A language replacing an operating system?
I don't think.NET will replace anything. Its like when C++ came out. It didn't stop people from using C..NET is useful and easy, but it has more overhead than a lot of stuff out there.
Microsoft's core DLLs were most likely written in C/C++ and will remain that way for many, many years.
When boasting the greatness of.NET, you should consider this: What language was used to compile the framework?
or is Micro$oft loosing more cases than it should?
I don't mean I support Micro$oft's actions, but I support these other people less. An ISP should not be required to filter its uploads. Another thing I hate, sorry if I go a bit off topic, is this damn Lindows crap. I hoped and prayed the M$ would win that one. Come on, a child could have seen that that was intended in a way that makes it a trademark infringement.
Micro$oft is just the worlds political toy. You want money and sympathy at the same time? Accuse Micro$oft. Its as simple as that.

The script that connects to the DB...
You are the weakest link, goodbye.
Does anyone remember when the US govt was going to put postage on emails. Its not going to happen.
If they actually can set up a device to ensure that these transactions are monitored, the taxes will be the least of our worries.
Despite the numerous violations of the typocratic oath, some implimentations Microsoft deliver are extremely efficient and useful in the commercial world. An example of this is the clipart system of Office2k. If you don't find the clipart you like, you click the WWW button, you choose which cliparts you want to install, and you click install. This is just one of the many implimentations MS created to benefit the consumer.
Don't get me wrong though, linux is where my heart is, but you can't look at MS Office and not be impressed.
Referenced in Inside the CIA:
Japan at one point was actually designing nuclear weapons, but the CIA used political and economical pressure to stop them.
If weapons are whan Japan wants, I'm sure we can talk them out of it.
Linux graphics software may not be as glorified as some of the Windows or MacOS programs. They are, however, useful. And the underlying fact is, Hey, they're free.
If you want to spend money on graphic software, thats your business. The rest of us, on the other hand, will master the skills required to produce awesome images on what we have.

I'm on IPv4, they want IPv6, what happened to IPv5!?!

If you are a geek with cool toys, you can never die.
Freon.
RPM-based (in fact, all binary-based) distros should go the way of the dodo bird.
Have you ever tried installing a Gnome2 demo on a 60mHz processor?
If it wern't for the wonders of an RPM based installation, I would still be installing SuSe 7.1.
Someone is going to have to at some point rig this thing up to play networked doom with itself.
I think they were aiming more at a tariff, so national software would flourish as opposed to international.

Once you accept the GPL, you are pretty much in that field. That would, in my eyes, be the equivilent.
OK, its a hoaky title, but I can deal, after all, I've gotten over the fact that SW 2 is going to be called Attack of the Clones.
How annoying those "Can you hear me now?" commecials are, I would have more faith in the company.
I think its just an excuse to let us flirt with the hot characters. Or, one would hope/dream.

And yet it still takes 30 seconds to start Explorer.
