The precision automaton could revolutionise building sites. It can work round the clock, in darkness and without tea breaks.
Exactly what construction sites has this author been visiting? I don't care if he is from the UK: construction people are NOT drinking tea in those cups.
As noted in this article, the Congressional Budget Office when discussing the causes of the deficits "that 36% of the deficit comes from the Bush tax cuts, 31% from spending on defense and security, and the remainder from the economic slowdown."
2.5 million more people unemployed at the end of W's term (the first "President" to have negative job growth in 72 years, since Herbert Hoover) might be a fairly good indicator to the general pop. The extremely low consumer confidence as the enormity of the job loss situation sinks in (and more and more people become more and more nervous about their own situation) will also help.
Basically, it's the economy, stupid, all over again. You'd have thought W would have learned from H. W. You'd have been wrong.
Oh, come on. W's Moon/Mars proposal is less funded than "No Child Left Behind". He wasn't being serious. He was trying to distract everyone from the fact that the deficit was so severe (and set to get much worse if he gets the tax cuts changed to permanent) that he doesn't have room to do anything real. Hence:
W: Where are we going?
US: Mars!
W: When are we going?
US: Real soon!
let this thing linger for a few days/weeks, let more and more people vent their (righteous) anger at the utter waste of money that the licensing has proved to be and then, magnanimously, they will offer a renewal option for three years for the price of two with a guaranteed major release or a refund of half the price (or something like that). And all the while, they'll paint themselves as being responsive as opposed to the reality of them being abusive (in the monopolistic sense)
While humanity has been spreading out to new places ever since Africa, everywhere they go, a significant number of them tend to then congregate in towns/villages/cities/mega-cities. Now, rather then flee into the wilderness again in reaction to the stressors of this (which is really difficult nowadays), people control their personal space with headphones.
tannin and antioxidants and many health benefits, is it so wrong of me to mix the two and drink my espresso/wine drink approximately every fifteen minutes from the time I wake up to the time I...try to go to sleep? Why won't my wife/ex-boss/judge understand I'm doing this for my health?!?
IANAL: SCO can and has subpoenaed IBM's email records. Microsoft can't because it isn't their lawsuit or counterlawsuit. They'd just be a potential witness.
Reading over at Groklaw, I saw that PJ has a great point: Now that the memo is noted as authentic, IBM can subpoena Microsoft and ask for their email and documents.
for Baystar to continue to deny that Microsoft had anything to do with the funding if in fact they did? I realize that Baystar is not under oath right now (right now), but patently false statements about publicly traded companies seems like it might be crossing a line.
Remember, these are the companies that shareholders should sue for frivolously spending company monies with no legal foundation. And the top executives should get the boot.
Shareholders have already unseated Eisner and Lord Black because of stupidity/criminal self-dealing. Here's three more to add to the list.
No matter how much we tell people "don't open attachments unless you know the person!" they still won't listen.
But since quite a few worms attack Outlook and then send off copies to everyone in the address book, opening attachments from people you know is in some ways MORE likely to lead to infection.
I would say a safer rule is "Don't open attachments you weren't expecting", or "Don't open attachments that you haven't independently confirmed" or the safest of all "Don't open attachments in Outlook, period!"

I think the government will back me up.

The third rule of the Tin Foil Hat Club: If this is your first night at the Tin Foil Hat Club, you have to sue.
Xemu will get you for that, Walter. Xemu will get you for that.

I thought that was what my Tardis was for.

But remember, it's in the name of (everybody) security
The rest will burn in the Final Conflagration between the Dark Prince's OS and the upstart Penguin!
Muwahahahahahahahaha!!!!!
You ARE clever.
Nuff said.
That's why there should be privacy laws saying that information is non-usable unless explicitly permitted. Right now, it's bass-ackwards.

One can only hope.
That's assuming you trust Microsoft to clean up the mess they created in the first place.

As opposed to the high budget wrestling movies like "No Holds Barred" and ...,ummm, "All The Marbles" and ...umm, ...films like that.
