Its' finding conclude that by having a 200 GB cache for storing popular downloads, it is plausible for an ISP to achieve a 67% decrease in P2P traffic and a 50% thoroughput bandwidth download decrease
An ISP hoarding porn, warez, and copyrighted movies/mp3s? What a lawsuit that would be!
I have old games that can't run in WinXP, even using the older Windows compatibility mode. I'm sure glad my boss gave me his wive's old 486 66MHz Compaq Presario ("if you can haul it out of the basement, you can keep it").
Unfortunately, the Compaq is still too fast for some of my games, like Mike Ditka Ultimate Football. I really wish I had a "turbo" button on that thing!
When my family got a new Dell Dimension 8100, the keyboard that came with it had 3 programmable keys on the top, so I programmed one to play a.wav of Bill Lumbergh saying "mmmm...yeah...", and got a sticker and named it the "mmmm...yeah..." key. I think every keyboard should have one.
Crimson Editor color-codes HTML, too. It doesn't do that other stuff, but it's quite a bit cheaper.
Of course, I'm not really the type to edit HTML in a text editor much, either. Lately, I've been relying on Visual Studio.NET (I'm sure I'll get modded down for saying that) for my editing, since it does color-coding, automatic end-tab completion, automatic spacing, grouping of different pages in the same project space, and so I can see the webpage in progress.
Unfortunately, it's made me very lazy with my HTMLing. With all the stuff it does for me, I'm not to confident in my ability to write neat and good HTML without it's help. But it does make my work go a lot faster...
Ever play Civ I/II/III? What happens when you play a nation and find yourself sharing your continent with several other nations? What happens when you have a large island all to yourself?
In Civilization, a good player beats all those other little counties to a pulp before it's too late!
When you have something that you have not paid for, and the government has laws stating that you're supposed to pay for it, then you're breaking the law.
The judge will laugh at you when you say it's not theft.
I'm not trying to feed the troll, but too many people around here think that they can do whatever they want to in the information/digital world, as long as they don't physically steal some tangible object from somebody.
Going to Small Claims court is not worth the ten dollars. It's not worth the $20 if they email you twice. It's not worth the $30 if they email you three times. It's simply not worth the trouble, and the small chance that you would lose, and the high probability that the spammer wouldn't even show up.
They should at least make the penalty as costly as the court fees needed to collect it.
How many spammers right now obey the existing spam laws?
Ohio has a law that says you have to provide full identification on unsolicited email advertisements, and that you must provide a way out for the consumer. But I still recieve plenty of spam with no identification other than a forged header, and certainly no way to tell the spammer that I don't want their stuff anymore.
Good intentions, but, just like every other law covering the digital realm, it's too hard to enforce.
I'd have to agree with you on that point. I mean, I don't have a car, so I don't have to worry about it breaking down.
Then again, that also means I stay home on the weekends.
Judging by the size of the external earphone adapter, would it have cost that much space for Nintendo to include one on-board?
It's a bit OT, but it seems lately Nintendo's been all about chiding people to buy as much stuff as possible. For instance, they are releasing more and more Game Cube games that require the GBA and the 'Cube-GBA connector cord to be able to use all the features. Supposedly, the new Pokemon Arena game for the 'Cube will REQUIRE the GBA, the connector, and the GBA Pokemon game in order to play it. They made the GBA screen such that you have to be standing on the sun in order to see it, and now they're selling another GBA that fixes that problem. And now the headphone adapter fiasco!
I know I'm not forced to buy any of this, but I really miss the days when things were fully functional right out of the box.
ummm...yeah...after every other Game Boy has included that on-board, I was kinda expecting the same thing for the SP. I don't appreciate having to pay $10-15 extra just to have the ability to actually hear the game.
The Game Boy Advance SP won't even have a headphone jack.

Good grief, moderators. Where's your sense of humor? I mean, if the poster was trolling about BSD, then you should mod it down. But he was making a joke! I thought it was pretty stinkin' funny, too.
I don't like to complain about moderation, but this goes to show that everybody should actually read at least some of the post before determining that it fits the "troll template".

Well, I can't tell, since the site is slashdotted, but does this mean that there's already 2 Linux distros avialible for the Ipod?

The name "GIMP" kind of implies that the program isn't very good, I think. Like the program is limping behind Photoshop...
I respect the GIMP project, but calling it the "GIMP" is like naming a car the "Ford Lemon" or "Mercury Clunker".

What are those? Are you talking about Russian school girls that work hard and study a lot?
Dell 's Ebay Store currently there's 75 laptops, and most of them are naked.

This has been the first musical, that I can recall, that has come out for a long time.
um...Moulin Rouge?
My friends and I still enjoy playing 2 player SMB3 sometimes, and we enjoy "trash" talking it up, as well. My favorite "burn":
Dude, why's your Luigi red?"
Yep, we're geeks...

I hear this band is after their domain. Maybe they'll make the legal push.
Umm, actually, NOT buying an Xbox and no games is their worst nightmare.
ummm...most people hook their X-boxes up to the TV, so they can probably get by without the tuner.
