Lucas lacks timing. Honestly, the Padme angle should have been a precursor to the fight with Obi Wan, to fuel his anger even more so he didn't care about anything he previously cared for anymore. Enough so that he would strike down his former mentor.
It could have been as simple as having Obi Wan saying he thinks she's dead after checking her (heat of the moment, not able to find a pulse whatever). Anakan can lose it, make bottles rattle and have his "NOoooo" moment. Then, he's in a proper state of mind to try to take Obi Wan down.
And at the end, after becoming Vader, he would be totally resigned to his new fate and moved forward instead of sullying our image of the imposing figure in the black armor by being a whiny pussy.
Yep, it seems to do some kind of firmware update maybe. You get stuck at a grey screen with a spinny, and the cpu fans flip to their highest spin rate for several seconds.
Probably depends on the system, it took about a minute on my 1.7GHz iMac.
Not only did this game have a really good story, but it was damn scary. With positional audio, a mere walk through some woods was reduced to a white knuckled adventure because as you're walking, suddenly you hear a second set of footsteps - which stop the second you quit moving.
Or being in a hotel at night and walking into a room with some... THING... in there, that's covered in rusty metal and dried blood that just turns and tries to kill you mindlessly. Don't even get me started on the nurses.
Anyway, the SH series of games has always been great for scares. They're my favorites.
Even if it doesn't become the defacto HD format, it won't hurt the system as a gaming platform. And the games are what's going to sell the machines of this next generation, not the hardware capabilities alone. That being said, it makes it awfully appealing to those who want to have an all-in-one package, like the PS2 was with its DVD support.
But the lack of standardized media has never really hurt a platform all that much. The PSP is selling fine and UMD movie sales are much higher than anticipated. The Gamecube also did well overall, at the very least you can say that media type wasn't a #1 complaint of developers.
I'm amazed someone else remembers this program. It was GREAT. I used that for years before switching to Photoshop, and then only as you say, because Photoshop bought it, discontinued it, and eventually surpassed it in terms of features.
Still, it was far easier than Photoshop at the time. Now, unless you did tons of digital photo editing 10 years ago (was nowhere near as common as now), most people have never heard of it.
They weren't even nude, they were almost fully clothed (arms and head weren't covered) in a skintight spandex-ish type of material. There was some sexual content in the beginning with the woman cheating on her husband, but it's not like it was something from Vivid Video.
Here's something that ties into that. I was recently on a business trip and normally I don't need to bring a laptop along. This time I had brought my girlfriend's iBook to watch DVDs with, but happened to need it during the entire trip to do note taking during some client sessions.
Interestingly, as the documentation started piling up, and files were being passed around, I was the only one having no problem whatsoever tracking where files were stored, and managing multiple documents being edited at once. Everyone else was fumbling through folders, alt-tabbing until their fingers were sore, etc. By day two, almost everyone had taken a look at how I was effortlessly able to carry on with business tasks with the iBook that had, the day before, been jokingly jibed at since it was the only Apple at the table.
At least two fellows had indicated they'd be looking into getting one soon for business use. I swear, I should be on Apple's payroll.;)
It was down before THIS story went live, because there's another story on/.'s front page which links to it. I'm pretty sure that one's responsible for fracking their server.
One of the key things about OSX I find is that there's an overall design philosophy at work that's consistent across the whole user interface. It's flexible enough to let developers do some unusual things (usually to their detriment...), but still will overall keep design conformity throughout. It's got the eye candy, but it's not extraneously over done, and is always useful in an ergonomic kind of way.
Once I bought a Mac and started playing around with OSX (fully with the intention of using its BSD base as a kind of learning transition to *nix), I looked at XP and wondered why I waited so long. Now my XP box is used for nothing but games.
No director has been named, and the best executive producer in the world won't save a movie if Uwe Boll is helming it. So all this does is reassure us that at the very least, it will be a great looking pile of crap.:)
"When you connect that Xbox 360 to your HD TV and Dolby 5.1-enabled stereo, you're going to find out just how sophisticated, deep, and fun the box itself is."
Of course if you preorder and buy the Core System SKU, you won't find out how sophisticated, deep, and fun the box is, because you didn't spend the extra hundred dollar Marketing Tax. Thanks IGN, you're so helpful.
Of all the games out there that come out this week, why post a review of THIS ONE? It's probably more informative to tell everyone how Virtua Tennis is comming out and is getting ridiculously good reviews from almost everyone, rather than tell us how much a 3D fighting game based on Marvel characters sucks.
Oh no you don't.;) Don't go blaming Slashdot. Blame Zonk. There's far more interesting news out there... hell the nearly five grand XBox360 package from Gamestop's more interesting than this.
I agree, hype surrounding hardware cracks me up. It's all about the games, and to be honest the Xbox never appealed to me because I have both a PS2 and a Gamecube. Most games come out cross platform, so I've never needed to cover that third base.
Have fun with the PS2. If you really want some engaging and entertaining gameplay, definitely consider playing Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3. They're unbelievably fun. Though if you like scrolling shooters you might find a slight drought on the PS2. Gamecube's Ikaruga is hands down one of the best shooters to come out in recent memory.
Giving control of the internet to the UN would mean giving China a say in how it is run. Given their idea of free speech (it's a Constitution right for the Chinese), that's really not acceptable.
Right. God forbid we allow a country to have a say on something that concerns all nations of the world. That's totally unacceptable.
To be honest, I've owned a PS2 since the day it hit the shelves, and it's been a blast from then until now. I haven't bought a replacement unit, so I'm still using a launch one -- hasn't let me down, my drive works fine and my controllers are working perfectly. No complaints about the hardware there. Game-wise, it's been an equal treat for me.
With regards to hype, I'm not sure if you've noticed but the hype machine for XBox360 has done everything aside of putting signs in orbit about the impending system's launch. Not to mention coming out and unveiling a product with all its specs, then turning around and offering 2 SKUs for it, clearly an attempt to get people to buy the most expensive one. By contrast, Sony's unveiling was an initial discussion of the system's specs for the developers, and some hardware demo reels showing off various elements of the system's performance. At least they didn't go to Rent-a-Hobbit to find someone to introduce the product.
Interesting, but (using your examples) you could develop items like those without needing to code a file sharing program. And truthfully, it would benefit the rest of the big amorphous thing that is IT more if they were developed separately, since the technology isn't dependent on anything else.
I suppose one question I would have to ask is:
Is anyone trying to do anything to make sure they DON'T wriggle their way out of this?
Lucas lacks timing. Honestly, the Padme angle should have been a precursor to the fight with Obi Wan, to fuel his anger even more so he didn't care about anything he previously cared for anymore. Enough so that he would strike down his former mentor.

YES

Nope, it's "watch". And yes, the movie was FANTASTIC.

In the absence of moderation points: LOL

It's worse for their server admin than for us. :) Doubly so, given that it's dumping out sql. That's just bad form.

How could they possibly feel that an underdeveloped piece of rental-bate could compete with one of the top selling games from last year?
I'm going to venture a guess and say: the fact that tons of people still buy games that are just as you describe.

How underwhelming.

Explain to me what's so innovative about creating a new file sharing network?
