I don't think you'll see any of that in this series, to be honest. Remember that for quite a lengthy time the Cylons and humans were never in contact with one another. It's conceivable their belief system manifested itself as they began to evolve, not necessarily at the beginning of their walking toaster phase.
Yeah, EQ2's changed a LOT. There's a lot of beneficial changes, especially to solo play, and a few that I don't agree with in regards to crafting. But overall it's a pretty underrated gem of a game. Not as underrated as DAOC, but...:)
For depth, nothing compares to EVE Online though. The game's crazy with its complexity.
CoX doesn't have grinding then? That's laughable. You are either grinding NPC gangs or grinding missions. Both of which, you guessed it, involve "grinding". Unless there's some other bit of content there that I'm missing?
There no story, no crafting system at all, no *nothing* at all other than running/flying/leaping/whatevering to different areas to grind grind grind. Hell, the character generator was probably the best feature of the whole game once you got sick of doing the same things over and over again.
Give it a rest. Fire Berman and Braga and remove them at least 1000 miles from any star trek property, they're only in it for a paycheck.
I agree, but you can't lay the blame soley in their lap. There are still zillions of die-hard fans who are more than willing to contribute to their paychecks no matter how much trash they continue to churn out.
You may not have, but a lot of people did. The numbers of young people or starving students who bought a PS2 for gaming AND DVD watching is probably larger than you might imagine. Two devices for one price? Score.
And while the price of the PS3 will probably hurt initial sales to the same demographics this go-around, rest assured there will still be a fair portion of sales that will be for the same reasons.
His office looks like mine when I take a picture of it. Beforehand, I'd have gone through and cleaned off the mess of paper, chip bags, and cans though. I'm sure he's got a whole team at Microsoft responsible for sanitizing his office prior to press visits.
The again, it sounds like all he does is chat on the phone and read/write emails. If that's all I had to do my desk would look like nobody worked there too.
Could it be at all possible they've delayed this to avoid releasing major software right smack in the middle of the scheduled PS3 launch? The timing of this might suggest so, and imho it's a prudent move given the media blitz the PS3 launch will no doubt be generating at that time.
No doubt Microsoft is including things like free trailers and game demos, or evaluation versions of Live Arcade games. When Apple says "10 million downloads", it's another way of saying "10 million things sold". If they included all the things they deliver for free (Apple.com's movie trailer section, Quicktime/iTunes software downloads, patches, etc), I'm sure the number would be staggeringly large.
A better question maybe to ask is, does anyone mind?
Not trolling or anything, but hey this is several hundred dollars I don't have to spend until then. Now I can budget for it and a few games. And maybe they'll sneak in a few improvements, have time to work on their online service, and start cranking out the rest of the machine so production problems won't be as much of a concern.
Wait, I just thought of something. If you're playing a human and get bit, do you become a zombie and stay that way? Or can you be turned back to a human-class by some weird medical means (anti-virus, genetic treatment, serum, whatever)?
Because it might be interesting if you could say as the zombies go on a raid of a human base with 10 guys and as you kill humans your numbers increase.:)
Actually, the correct answer is "I have no idea", because chances are excellent that's entirely correct. I'll wait until an official Sony person says yes.
10. Demonstrate our most creative games. Halo and GTA represent us in the marketplace, and we need to show people it's not all about guns and boobs. Katamari Damacy, DDR, Parappa, Donkey Konga and Guitar Hero are games the whole family can enjoy and play.
Mmm hmm. How about Shadow of the Colossus, or Psychonauts? Both games were amazing, creative, critically a success, but sold nowhere near the number of copies as the fifth Grand Theft Auto game. I don't think the industry has a problem demonstrating creativity, I think the industry is now so commercially oriented that they stifle it in favor of the sure money.
Yeah the price was nasty, but when you consider it was hitting the news a year ago or so I imagine maybe the cost might have dropped since then. Though, there really hasn't been much news lately about it, which usually doesn't mean good things.
Still, the form factor of the QQO is a hell of a lot more attractive than the Origami. And I'm not sure of the latter, but the QQO was designed to hook up to monitors and keyboards to function as almost as a portable desktop as well.
I remember seeing this thing on a CNet video a year ago, it was extremely impressive back then running a full version of XP with all the inputs and outputs you could want.
Though, I imagine this might cause some problems for accident scene investigators.
"We're fairly certain a vehicle collision of some kind occurred, as evidenced from this satellite photograph showing the center of the blast zone to be somewhere in the middle of the intersection at 103rd and 9th."
I think I know what happened there. Take the block of text, minus your own comments, and stick it in Word. Notice anything?:) Other than the apostrophe issue with "it's", it passes with flying colors. The that vs which item you pointed out is always something Word attempts to correct, often inappropriately.
... but not the finish-in-one-week variety. I play MMOs like EVE Online, and have been for about three years now, as well as the odd other MMO that comes out here and there. I can't tell you how much persistent games like these have cut into my purchases of games such as Black, that latest Star Wars RTS, etc. I'm just not interested in playing a game that I can potentially finish in a low single-digit number of weekends, then shelve or trade in for a few measly bucks at EB and get another of the same.
Lets see, the most recent game I've bought since maybe Half-life2 has been Dungeons and Dragons Online. Technically, one can powerlevel like mad in that game and max their character out in days, but the fun of it is in playing with good groups, taking your time, and enjoying the experience. I've been playing it for now over one week, have seen a tiny percentage of what the game has to offer in total (I work for a living, thus cannot spend 8 hours a day playing games as much as I'd like to), and have had nothing but fun.
Most people I've talked to who've bought Black have become bored with it within HOURS, much less days. And they wonder why people aren't rushing out to buy it.
Anyway, my main point is that I, and presumably a bunch of other folks, are thoroughly playing games and enjoying their experiences in games such as EVE, WoW, DAoC, EQ2, the list goes on. These statistics only ever describe boxed copies sold, but it'd be interesting to see them combined with subscription-based games.
Guild Wars is a great game sure, but the bloom effect is totally overdone there as well. Find a nice scene and sit there turning it on and off, and note the difference.
The first time I ever played it I thought I'd rubbed Vaseline into my eyes or something.

There IS a Next button at the bottom right, you know. ;)
Because it's on CNet. You know, "this article/site/'journalist' sponsored by Dell" CNet.
This is where Microsoft turns around and initiates a full audit of Lucent's licenses for Microsoft products.

If you want to play the games that bad, then why not use your old XBox to play them?

Just a thought.
It's not like either of the two games I spoke of as examples got any really decent amount of advertising either.

Intriguing concept by a previously-unheard-of studio with no publisher (financial backing)? I'm not sure I'll be holding my breath for this one.
JM: The answer is yes
