That's not true, it also gives the executives the semblance of doing something about piracy so they don't have to spend all that time trying to fix an outdated business model.

I keep thinking "What is that, a sphere with a lambert shader? Some kind of procedural ring texture on a plane? Might want to add some rocks while passing through the ring so it doesn't just pop. Those shadows are way too sharp, might want to turn on raytracing for those."

It sucks that I can't appreciate this properly and my brain just keeps interpreting it all as fake because my only other reference for something like this are 3D renders.

Also, I've loved Agnus Dei ever since hearing it in Homeworld.

  20. Making SSDs inhouse. on Hard Disk Sector Consolidates Amid Uncertain Future · · Score: 2

While SSDs and HDDs serve the same function the technologies are pretty different, so it's much easier for Intel and various RAM manufacturers to start making SSDs than it is for WD to transition to them.
Last I checked WD's SSDs were just a rebranded product made by some other company.

I guess Hitachi Global Storage Technologies have all they need to manufacture SSDs in house and I'm assuming the other HDD companies will have to make some acquisitions of their own to stay competitive.
