After a bunch of stories that start out as "Microsoft spies on your children while they sleep" and then after reading some comments it turns out to be something along the lines of the the Xbox sending occasional queries to the Kinect to see if it's still working while in standby I'm somewhat skeptical of anything I read here.
That's not true, it also gives the executives the semblance of doing something about piracy so they don't have to spend all that time trying to fix an outdated business model.
I keep thinking "What is that, a sphere with a lambert shader? Some kind of procedural ring texture on a plane? Might want to add some rocks while passing through the ring so it doesn't just pop. Those shadows are way too sharp, might want to turn on raytracing for those."
It sucks that I can't appreciate this properly and my brain just keeps interpreting it all as fake because my only other reference for something like this are 3D renders.
Also, I've loved Agnus Dei ever since hearing it in Homeworld.
While SSDs and HDDs serve the same function the technologies are pretty different, so it's much easier for Intel and various RAM manufacturers to start making SSDs than it is for WD to transition to them. Last I checked WD's SSDs were just a rebranded product made by some other company.
I guess Hitachi Global Storage Technologies have all they need to manufacture SSDs in house and I'm assuming the other HDD companies will have to make some acquisitions of their own to stay competitive.

I'm told for this kind of situation nuking it from orbit has been proved quite effective.

Please assume the party escort submission position
Probably was just not meant to be a factual statement, there's a lot of that going around.
Well, to be fair Stephenson never struck me as the strongly-worded-petition kind of guy.
I almost thought of him as being mostly in a trancelike state of contemplation and goatee stroking with occasional bouts of assassination.
I expect you to die!
Or just tell them to space-walk it off.
There isn't one, that's the point, they still get payed.

You mean, tastes like Robot Chicken.
My voice is my passport. Verify Me.
If there's one thing the IE people have proven is that there is in fact an I in Ieam.
Just supply the crew with enough Rad-X and Rad-Away.
And don't forget some extra water chips, just in case.
Does this mean Jewish privates will not be issued one?
You can still order one Here.
From Wikipedia entry for Adagio for Strings:
A choral version â" Agnus Dei â" can be heard in the soundtrack to the PC video game Homeworld

Sure, my desktop computer has 24 times the amount of RAM but... Wait, my desktop has 24 times the amount of RAM? Holy crap!

I for one will not be entrusting my sensitive data to ducks, airborne or otherwise.
And only he could get away with it.
Well, to be fair there's also Hasselhoff.
Oh wait, parody is not the same as mockery.
I wonder, if they made one of Christopher Walken, could you tell the difference?
