get a couple of these
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16881180042
panasonic makes a bunch of them, they all do motion capture and smtp email. setup a gmail account, set the camera to email motion captured pics to the email address.
only bad thing is the smtp server portion doesn't support gmail smtp protocol, so will have to have a smtp server through your isp
I have set a bunch of these up for several friends/family, they just work...
get some of these, they are the best bang for the buck. I have even wrapped elec tape around them and put them outside -lol
they have 5 triggers, one can be motion detection, other a timer. set them to ftp pics to a linux server (bare bones box $200 at newegg)
so 5 cams + linux box = $600

I have all the scripts to rotate pics, create mpegs of each days pics, even time stamping using imagemagik. drop me a line if intersted...
I don't think we have to worry to much. Yes, big company's are buying open source firms, but think about it. Its not like they can simply close the project, or take it private. As long as there has been code published under an open source license and it falls under GPL(depending on whatever version of open source lic. they used) then they can't just say fuck you to all the contributers and privatize it. Woulnd't that break the license the original code was published under?
or can they?
the European arrogance cancels out the bonus they get on the multilingual (of course I'm sure they say the arrogance of us cancels out our better work ethic -lol) and maybe it does? one of not to many americans travel abroad and I think that hurts us
hl2? i run a cyber cafe. I have had a few people ask about hl2/cs. I explain what they want to charge me per month($10 per pc per month) and they say wtf?. I woulnd't pay that!
I then have them try out bf2 or some other game that isn't limited to a map the size of your local shopping mall and never hear any further complaints. hl2 and doom3 are wonderful game engines but the game play isn't there. People have moved on past that. They try a game in the bf* series and forget about playing a game based in a hallway someplace. I feel bad for valve but the simle matter is that people want a larger play experience. Playing cs over and over isn't much different than playing tank on the atari 2600. You get your paterns down and thats that.
I still remember back in the early eighties when the calculator watches hit the scene. Teachers hated them! Almost as much as the souped up stompers....
anyone else here hook a 9v battery to a stomper way back when? they even have stompers anymore?
My brother has been using sat for internet 3 hours from nearest paved road for last year or so. It works great! I took a grandstream budget-tone(preconfigured to connect to my asterisk server) with me last summer when I went down there to visit. It blew them away when I called time and temperature at a local bank and the audio was crystal clear. They laughed at me when I tried to call my wife and all she heard was strange noises-lol Oddly enough we could hear her fine. Very weird to hear a perfectly clear voice that far out in the middle of no where. The radio phone going to a little town 80km away sounds ok, but you can tell its over a radio.
My brother has started using skype and its bearable. You almost have to say over at the end of each sentence.
I set up a wrt54g running http://www.openwrt.org/ and it acts as a little ap there for them. The really cool thing is, I left it running openvpn, so when ever they fire up the generator it will connect up to my server. I thought using putty over a dial up was bad, this is around 800ms-1000ms, still very cool to be able to ssh into a router in the middle of the amazon. Ya, I know I'm a nerd....
the only bummer about the sat service is you have to use a windows pc for the connector. It has some client software that runs to connect it..
here's their website if anyone know someone that needs internet in south america for $65 a month

might as well say p2p is fair use, the riaa/miaa think that someone bringing over a dvd/cd to watch with you is stealing...right?

forgot to mention, they even have count down timers, so its like drag racing!!
I've drove in countries that have LED timers, it works great. I think traffic flow is smoother, because you know exactly how much time you have.
But just think of the advantages. In the office of the future, the conference call, too, will be remembered as a medieval form of torture."
I think that now....
280 x 10 are the coordinates, pretty wild looking!

This isn't about stupid laws being passed, this is about the US gov and Hollywood criminalizing a big chunk of Americans.
