    i think to be a fxs, the device has to be able to generate a dial tone. I don't believe a modem can do that.

    I been using apt-get on fed since version1. I prefer it to yum. I started out using freshrpms apt-get, but have since migrated over to atrpms.net. (I believe they use the same reps?) very easy and fast to upgrade a new system.. wget http://download.atrpms.net/other/packages/fedora-3 -i386/atrpms/atrpms-kickstart-25-1.rhfc3.at.i386.r pm then type in apt-get update & apt-get dist-upgrade

    I tried using a GS budgetone over a sat connection in brazil last year. I couldnt get it to work to well, one side could hear at times, but not talk. Just the other day, my friend down there told me to install skpye. I did and was able to talk to him over the connection. Horrible latency, almost had to say "over" BUT, it did work and we were able to talk ok. I can speak Portuguese and he can speak English, but neither of us can type that well in the corresponding language -lol

    has anyone gotten skype to work with asterisk yet???

    use openwrt.org. People have gotten asterisk to build on it and have even made packages for it. more interesting will be the new linksys with the fxo ports on it. They had some oem in the beginning, but now you have to get it bundled with vonage...

    not sure why everyone is up in arms about cyber cafe licensing. We are opening one, but won't be using steam.
    hl2 grphx are nice, but in the end, a single player game doesn't cut it anymore. and cs source is still just cs (an outdated game).
    not worth $120 per pc per year (min 10 pcs) - IMO

    I forgot to mention that coke made with sugar tastes much better. Doesn't seem as sticky sweet. Might be in my head though, wasn't there a study done where the majority of beer drinkers couldn't tell their preferred brand from another?

    South America is the same way. In fact I believe the US is the only place where corn syrup is used as a sweetener in soft drinks.(anyone know that for a fact?) This is because the price of sugar is kept artificially high due to a few farmers that grow sugar in southern united states by using subsidies on all imported sugar.

    We get enough laws written, we'll be just like roman empire was at the end of its days. Its inevitable.

    also note that the dvd install seems so much faster than the cd install. Doing a 2gb install seems to take about 15 min with a dvd, and 20-30 min with cd.

    radio is too slow, what is it that the sun produces that travels way faster than light and goes through everything? if anyone is out there, thats what they are using...what ever happened with that experimental thing they buried 1/2 mile underground filled with water to catch those things the sun produces?

    my prediction? we will learn how to use that and will be connected to countless civs' (if they out there)

    you aren't root by default, when you are happily surfing the internet and some BS pop up asks if you want your downloads to be faster and click yes, having to put in su password will at least defer some of the people, where as a win user wont even see that and have BS installed....guess I shouldn't complain as much of my bread and butter has been cleaning up pcs -lol

    and the funny thing is that they were probably a lot happier in life than the ceos in the rat race. One of the happiest family I have ever met lived in brazil with dirt floors. They made thier own cheese and had coffee plants in thier garden. Happiness comes from creating things, and making other poeple happy. Share the wealth...
