  1. Roll on IPv6 on The 69/8 Networking Problem · · Score: 5, Interesting

I would love everything to be IPv6 now, but it ain't gonna happen for atleast 10 years I think. Even new equipment hasn't got IPv6 :(
That would solve problems like this, and create lots of lovely new ones :/

If only the world was perfect eh?

    You did do maths, right?

LCD monitor prices have gone down alot over the last few months, this 15" LCD I've got, I paid £230, and it now costs ~£150, quite a bit of devaluation there I think :/

This is an outrage! I mean, I have a chipped XBox here in the UK, and I use it to run XBox media player, and play a few (legitimate) games I have. At some point in the future, I will be running linux on it as well, as I can sit in bed and browse the web. Not as bad as it sounds :) I think DCMA is disgusting, it gives corporations the rights that they don't need!

  7. Re:Hmm on Turn Your Monitor Into an HDTV · · Score: 1

    You insensitive clod!
If you had actually read the article, he did compare this device to normal TV tuner cards, and he said something to the effect that he often had problems with them, and scan artefacts etc. If you were to use your monitor like a full time television, you don't really want to have a PC running it! For starters, PCs make noise (lots of!), they go wrong (sometimes quite frequently) and they require turning off before you go to sleep. Yes, I know I could get a remote control for the pc and get it to shut itself down. But it's much quicker to have a device you can turn off instantly, and then the monitor goes in to standby. I have a lesser model, made by someone else, which just scan doubles and has a remote. It works better than any TV I've seen at what I paid for device (£150) + monitor (£100 off a friend). Oh, did I mention that a PC makes alot of noise as well?

  10. The proof is in the pudding! on Have Fujitsu Harddrives Been Failing in Record Numbers? · · Score: 1

I am good friends with a local computer company, reasonably small, but getting bigger, and very popular, (I also do some work for them, but I digress), they tend to get lots of 3rd party fixes (PC World for example) and obviously, they fix their own as well. They have loads of fujitsu drives laying around, just an initial look shows whole hd holders (what a package of drives are held in) of FAILED FUJITSU DRIVES! They must get atleast a few PER WEEK! They now only sell Seagate drives, and the odd maxtor :). They havn't had one failiure yet on them. . .
Forget slagging off without evidence, they have all the evidence you could want there against Fujitsu.
