sad that liability is the first consideration that typically comes to mind. my suggestion is to have it in a country other than the US, that way you can have a good time. I am a US Citizen, but I detest how litigated everything has become with no one taking responsibility of her/his actions.

Actually making ethanol from sugar cane is more than 6x more efficient than corn. it actually has a huge net gain in fuel. the factories in Brazil do an amazing job of creating power both to power the plants that make the ethanol as well as for the general public.

several of the sugar plantations in the states are considering this as well, since it is so much more effective.

  3. Leave the commercials on Piracy Outstripping Legal Video Sales? · · Score: 1

I have often wondered why folks just don't leave the commercials. It would seem that anytime a commercial is viewed whether through a downloaded version or on the air, it benefits the advertiser and station. Obviously folks could just skip ahead, but they can do that with Tivo.

I remember a debate about separating content and production from distribution. It seems that if producers (of music or video) were free to distribute their stuff through whatever vehicle they preferred, it might go a long way to improving download able versions.

a lot of small companies have been doing this for a long time. having lived in the midwest, california and most places in between, i tend to find that both the work ethic and quality of performance is higher in rural areas. of course there are always exception to this rule, such as IT. if you think about it, what else are folks in the midwest going to do during the summer, but go to work. no reason to call in sick to go hang out at the beech or go skiing.

One of the long term goals of the save farscape movement was to get another network to pick up the series. if interest were high enough in the mini-series, then maybe one of the other networks which showed interest would move and pick up the series.

If the series is actually picked back up, it could prove inspirations for all the other shows that were cancelled, but are still fighting to get back on the air. the save farscape crew did a good job of trying to rally support.

I don t know the specifics of the contract, but it seems to me from other ISP's contracts, they have the right to terminate service at any time. They might have to give back the balance of the contract or the entire amount of the contract, but wouldn't that be better than dragging this out.

does anyone know the specifics of the contract?

i am sure that they oversell their resources just like an isp. if they only charge you for what time you do use, they will cut into their profits.

so long as they have a huge subscription base, they can force users to pay however they want. sure they might lose a few, but overall they win.

I try to think about the scale of things in a relative fashion. i find that i can cope with the magnitude of the universe in 2 dimension, when it comes to three i lose it. thinking that there are more dimensions than three gives me trouble alone, trying to apply that to the scope of the galaxy makes me want a beer.
