    Every gigabyte they send has a cost, they may have a large connection (or three) but they also pay for the traffic going over that link.

    You're also forgetting that what the telecoms are proposing here isn't just looking at how much, but also where it's going. so now, they'll pay for an OC-12, by the gig AND a fee to make sure their customers get a good connection.

    It's the third part they're objecting to. They already pay large amounts of cash for everything going in and out of their datacenter, why should they pay _more_ for guaranteed priority?

    You can buy wimax distribution systems now, alvarion has one, navini has one, but the problem is that they're based on a protocol that isn't finished. In the meantime, have a look at hiperLan gear, it's not half bad, for the meantime.

    Those studies were a pile of crap, none of the participants were screened for psychosis before they started smoking, which leads to the inevitable question, would someone who is bordering psychosis possibly self medicate with marijuana? Correlation != Causation.

    They're pretty much both anti MJ propaganda pulled out by people who were against the reclassification of marijuana in britain. Strange how they suddenly got done right around when the reclassification became news.

    people use freemail or free voip software, there's no way to monitor communications, either for your own devious ends, or actual goverment mandated policies (Sarbanes oxley ..or something similar, and one that's similar to HIPPA) pretty much anything that says people with access to confidential info have to protect it.

    That plus the standard, you're using company resources, blah blah.

    My point?

    Dunno, why did they write this story anyhow?

    Just as a side note, why would they delay an OS (as it was stated further up) losing HW manufacturers billions, just to rewrite it for a single HW manufacturer who accounts for les than 10% of the market????

    Really, Apple hardware is nothing. Very pretty nothing, but nothing none the less.

    My sky box gives me the opportunity to block out channels I don't want my daughter seeing, on my computer, if I want, I can do the same thing, selective whitelisting.

    It's not the ISP's job to do this sort of thing, if you don't want your children seeing certain thing, it's up to you to decide what's appropriate and what isn't. Maybe the ISP could offer a filtering service, but it should be the parents who opt in, not vice versa.
