I agree totally. IT in North America has imploded. I don't know if any other career area has expanded to compensate. Maybe healthcare?

This person should be extolling the benefits of IT jobs to Indian and Pakistani girls. At least until the global market moves everything to Subsaharan Africa - or Detroit.

  2. Re:iPod Photo over iPod on Apple Updates iPod · · Score: 2, Interesting

ipod photo looks like a niche item. An artist remarked that she can put her whole portfolio on the thing and whip it out for an impromptu show. She can do the same thing with a website but it's less portable. People who are into digital photography bigtime would like one, too. But the ipod photo is an odd combination.... I guess they just had the parts laying around and figured they could offset the minor development costs with relatively few sales. (??)

I was puzzled at first by the lack of American coverage. BTW I am American and I care. Yes of course there's the 'poor foreigners' aspect which changes our level of concern. But there are other factors. The cause of this catastrophe is better understood in nature and scope. This was a natural catastrophe, not an attack. There was one earthquake and one (set) of sea waves. In 9/11 no one knew if more attacks were imminent so a prolonged state of alert was probably necessary. And 9/11 demanded a different political response. No one, not even George Bush, is going to launch missles against a sea trench.
