Jesus what planet are you living on. Hi res laptop screens have only just come into the affordable range for most people. I paid nearly 4K for a machine with a 1600x1200 screen a few years ago. Lower resolution would have been a lot cheaper and I still get higher resolution when I connect it to my iilayma monitor, cos it can handle the graphics card. I have another laptop with UXGA as well now and after 2 weeks a block of 4 pixels died leaving me a nice black dot on my screen. Good quality monitors and graphics cards are still way cheaper and way more reliable than forking out for hi res laptops.
native mode is when a resident national of the country in which the machine is located types "java LocalMain" at the console to launch the program and is not to be confused with indigenous mode which is when a resident national of the country in which the machine is located launches it from an IDE GUI. Hope this clarifies things.
If Santa is such a cool dude and his elves are so fucking industrious why couldn't I get laptops and cell phones for christmas when I was a kid, instead of something crappy with flashing lights and irritating beeping called Simon?
Most slashdotters just dont get that Outlook, (not Outlook Express as most here think) goes way beyond a simple mail client. Show me how to include all the synching, scheduling and work flow features available, or easily built onto of Outlook/Exchange and you might have something. Then just need to persuade organisations to deploy this shiny new unproven technology into their core infrastructure.
As a side rant I love firefox but thunderbird is a fairly average effort at best. I almost fell off my chair laughing at a post the other day about someone saying how cool and innovative the new sorting and grouping was, features that were available in Outlook 97 (and probably other mail clients at that period). This is another reason why Lightening, same as Chandler is not going to work. Just too far behind the curve and not focussed enough on power deployments.
Well lets see, they have a huge subscriber base already. The rest of the world is currently unaware google will be offering a free email service, and get this, all the non techies I have sent invites to have rejected them on privacy grounds. And lets face it, everyone has a hotmail account and knows its best use is for spam attracting, anonymous junk sign ups. Plenty of room for a quality service if AOL can provide it.
Probably because the odds of it surviving more than a couple of trips are not that good? The first flight showed there was still a lot of risk involved.
eh no, it forces no one to do or buy anything, it just means the NBA are free to hawk their brand name to multiple vendors. Short term this might generate more revenue for them but will also dilute their brand and associate them with some crap products.
Just a quick story. Several years ago I had the misfortune to work for a rather a large but crap european company. A fellow contractor reached his limit and decided to quit. Just before leaving the building, he mailed the _entire_ and I mean entire company mailing lists, staff, clients, suppliers, everyone with the message "So long and thanks for all the fish".
Shortly afterwards the mailservers melted under all the "Fish? what fish?" responses. Nice.
NASA should be allowed use these idiots in their experiments. I'm thinking 'Effects on subject A when parachutes fail to deploy on capsule dropped from 50,000 feet' or 'Impact determination of Subject A foolishly slashing open his space suit in LEO" sort of stuff.
NASA could get valuable data, some small furry woonland creatures would be saved this fate and the world would have a few idiots less. Win all round scenario.
Cos this guy could probably use, and I do mean use, a cellmate, sorry, I mean some company right about now. Still you should get some useful security insights from him, esp on where it all went wrong.
That an advertisement, usually despised here, on the NY Times, a paper which cannot be linked here without some childish comment regarding registration is now A Good Thing(TM) on/.
We have a reviewer who admits to being a fan and basically says there is no story is not that good but its still worth buying and hopes the author can carry on with same. WTF sort of review is that?
I can only take from this that while the original idea had some merit this book must really suck.
Why do no reviewers here ever say do not buy this book, its not that good?

I thought they meant knowing in the biblical sense and I was gonna get some action early this year.
Only a fool would try to fly by pulling their hair upwards. Everyone knows you have to throw yourself at the ground and miss to fly.
I think you need to be very careful who you try chatting up when you have a few beers onboard mate.
Till you realise the computer answered 'some asshole' which could be any prime minister in the world really.

I believe you can on one of George's other internets (GWB.[your name here].imaginary I think)
Monty Python said the Chinese were nice, and I quote
"I like Chinese,
I like Chinese,
They only come up to your knees"
So that made it official. We like Chinese.
I'd rather not see it coming.

If they break they can be fixed or replaced. I want selfhealing (prefereably wolverine type) for me.

Scoop up a cup of molten lava as we surf past on the way to work if we feel the need for a hot morning beverage.
When their robot drones start pointing plasma cannons at us?
