when you see these photos. I know its a tremendous achievement but when you see a whole planet and it still looks like a little pixelated blob then its hard to match the achievement to what you are actually viewing.
Bruce is obeying the prime directive and not interfering. Who knows being crushed by this iceberg this could lead to a race of super flat, 2 dimensional penguins who will take over the world.
I appreciate that not all here are developers, and I would agree with you if say the article was discussing the upcoming developments in MagicDraw and its closer integration with SharpDevelop that some clarifying would be required, but we are talking about some of the biggest names in the business here.
For modeling/design go with Borland. Together is a far superior tool in my opinion. The round trip engineering is a joy. Rose I have always found to be a clunky tool, not very intuitive and was bound to specific versions of the JDK (not sure if that was still the case). Despite its monsterous cost when it was a standalone company Together brought a much more thought out and integrated feel to the whole design/develop/test/profile/deploy cycle than rational ever managed.
The site has one story, so clearly its a massive problem. Sarcasm aside plenty of other professionals work long thankless hours to get ahead without half the whining geeks manage. Face it. Writing code does not make you half as fucking precious as you think you are, and hard work was never meant to be easy.
Yes because helping to create a multi billion dollar industry with high quality games was just the dumbest thing in the world for Closed Source developers to do.
Dreamweaver has developed into a superb web design/development tool and there is nothing even remotely close to it in FOSS. Its one of those invaluable tools that ensure so many of us keep a Win2000/XP copy. And please dont say it runs under wine. Tried it, and found wine to be a slow ass unstable partially function piece of garbage.
who have never read any of Orson Scott Card's work, run, do not walk, to the nearest bookstore/library and buy/check out/steal/photocopy Ender's Game.
For those who actually do this its waste of time if you dont read the second book Speaker For The Dead which is by far the best book in the series. Enders Game is not bad but its main purpose is to serve as an intoduction to Speaker.
Problem 4: Slashdot poster pontificates about windows security without RTFA and makes bizarre claim that the windows security model causes vulnerabilities with thunderbird on debian unstable.
I tend to disagree (and I'm European). I have always found Americans to be adaptable, can do people. Yes they whine and moan, probably a little more than everyone else but that does not change the fact that when the time comes they stand up to be counted. Lets compare that to the Israeli attitude of a nuclear power trying to convince us that a few Palestinians with machine guns and home made mortars pose a serious threat to the existence of one the most powerfully armed countries on the planet. I think its pretty obvious who the real pussies are.
4 - A robot constructed using instructions found on Slashdot shall be equipped with a huge red emergency power shutoff button on its back.
Which will immediately drop me into a command shell so I can reconfigure my robot and specify which 'exterminate all the earthlings' mode I would like it to reboot in.
Before someone can finally admit they were part of a team of fuckwits who promised way more than they could actually deliver and so kicked off the cycle of overexpectation?
Actual immersion within a foreign babe? (or within a foreign culture if your tastes does not run to babes). Most enjoyable learning experience you could ever have.
It's nice to see someone (jericho4.0) rip into something they dont understand in the best slashdot 'I don't know it, have not used it, don't get it and it comes from MS so it must suck' tradition, as it does not deserve. Your ignorance becomes you. Wall building seems to have been beyond you jericho so its hardly surprising you are strugging with a sophisticated development framework.
Of course they will. I am getting on one of these because I feel 20K stg is a small price to pay for the comfort of knowing I have a crystal display cover which is scratch proof. Finally I can sleep at night.
But I dont think FOSS goes further than step 4. Its already apparent from the server OS market. FOSS is never going to completely dominate. Its main effect is to take out all the small/medium players and polarize the market into FOSS and the commercial giants which is unfortunate because the smaller commercial endeavours are where (as far as I can see) most of the innovation tends to come from. FOSS also tends to lag behind the technology curve so by the time it starts to mature the market has moved on, creating new options for commercial software so FOSS will constantly be chasing a moving target.
and some already are but lets face it, to currently reach the masses this sort of stuff needs to be pushed out through windows update.
In fact I never leave home without it but it fuxored my laptop when I inserted it.

How this compares to the sales or HL2 or Doom3?

regarding major development tooling it makes you wonder just how technically clued up people really are around here.

So the robot overlords of the future can have a missing link, just like us.

Actually using this logic Desktop Linux wins hands down. Every year its arrival is trumpeted yet we still wait.

I'm glad I was not the only one struggling with that. Sounds, and reads like a bunch of self aggrandizing bullshit to me.

therefore this is definitely not within the male definition of tropical island.

The empty one inside your confused head.
