How do you think microwave-safe cookware works? Do you really think anybody could actually be using these things if the container ended up being the same temperature as the macaroni-and-cheese inside?
LOL... for some reason your sarcasm just made me laugh alot...
Well a cell phone is one way to write e-mails or messages, but I would rather write e-mails on my computer with a full sized keyboard. Cell phones will do in a jiffy, but writing messages on them is much less efficient. I don't want to be pecking away on buttons smaller than my fingernails. I'll just use those keys on the cell *phone* to call them;)
Umm... time to market makes a big difference. If you get a project and don't have enough time to do it then yes quality will suffer. This is true in any industry. I realize there is a shared fault with some programmers and some managers, but not all programmers nor all managers.
I e-mailed Microtel Computer Systems and asked them what their hardware specs were for their SYSMAR701 PC With 850 MHz Duron. I got a response back on 6/17/2002. Anyway, the motherboard for the $299 PC is the MSI MS-6378X-L (MS-6378 V.3) [msicomputer.com]. A quick rundown of major specs is shown below:
200/266MHz FSB, Supports AMD Duron/Athlon/Athlon XP up to 2000+
Ultra DMA 66/100, 2 PC100/133 DIMM Sockets up to 1GB
Integrated Trident Blade3D AGP Graphics Engine shared memory up to 8MB
Micro-ATX Form Factor, 3 PCI, 1 CNR, AC 97, 2 USB, AGP 2x
ADMTek AN983B 10/100 BaseT Ethernet
Also, I should note the motherboard used changes based on model. Not bad for a $299 PC with Linux!

P.S. Big thanks to Rich at Microtel for the quick repsonse:)

Thats a great idea. It wasn't until Lophtcrack (or however you spell it) cracked my NT password in about 5 seconds that I realized how insecure my passwords are. So for important access. I use important passwords, and any company resource is important info.
As you can see the AMD is a hottie and thus not necessarily the best choice for a rack. I will admit that the process technology to make the AMD Athlon Model 4 (not the XP) is a little dated and for that along with other factors contributes to the high power consumption.
Well, while I was a fish in the dorms I changed a sign from "All Visitors Must Be Escorted" to "All Escorts Must Be Visited"... went unnoticed by most everyone all year long... gave me a chuckle every time I entered... guess I'm an artist too...
Just wanted to say thanks for bringing the day of silence to my attention. I have changed my usual radio format on Live365 from techno to silence. I have also included a few minute long, silent MP3s with various slogans on them such as "Save Internet Radio", etc... Hopefully this will help raise awareness as well.
I totally agree on the limited time thing. That gives whoever invented the physical thing time to grow. Patents are obviously a compromise between what is good for society and what is good for the inventor.
I should mention ideas in the form of business methods are protected in the U.S. My opinion is still out on patenting business methods, etc... As the world moves into a service oriented society I can see the need for a protection of business methods, but I'm not sure the protection vs. abuse ratio is good enough for society to continue to protect business methods. We have seen plenty of abuse on software patents (1-click). I can only imagine the stuff that will come out of business methods.
I would be willing to give up the notion of copyright and the patent systems altogether. What moral right does someone who creates an artifact that represents an idea to the very eternal notion itself? They should own only the artifact itself. Why should we subsidise the creation of such artifacts by granting copyright? I don't think the value of what is created in that way warrants the subsidy since the material created is mostly created with the express purpose of making $$ and not with enriching my life. Why is fostering technological growth good in and of itself? Is the car really a good thing? Has it actually benefitted mankind? If patents are granted to compete with other countries then maybe we should stop the war and sign a peace treaty outlawing patents.
I totally disagree. Without patents if you come up with a totally new idea you are not protected at all. So lets say you invent the next widget. Well IBM or Micrsoft says "hey thats a great idea" and they copy your widget which *you* thought of and you can continue to collect unemployment. Patents protect ideas and without protection of ideas there is no incentive to come up with more ideas and society stagnates.
I think my choice of words was wrong. By saying "rigged" (i know misspelled in my post) it sounds as if I'm insinuating sabotage. I didn't mean that. What I figued had happened is that these guys had not tested their site on IE, especially since IE is not on Linux. My apologies.
Well, I hate to admit it, but I am an avid Internet Explorer user. Not because I love Microsoft, but because the browser is just better than Netscape 4.7x. Anyway, these PerlBox guys have rigger their site to be nice to Netscape and Mozilla, but not IE. So be warned if you have JavaScript on. Kinda funny in a way... getting the IE users back for all the web designers that don't give a crap about Netscape.
Checked out your sig and I will read up on the Palestinian Conflict through they eyes of Electronic Infitada. I'll try to keep a non-biased approach, but to be honest I'm a little biased already because of the pansy suicide bombers. Not that I dislike all of the Palestinians for this, but I'm definitely against any terrorist pussies.

Well I agree with your choice on the XBox, but don't forget to figure in the cost of the modchip for the XBox @ $65.

Although not as small as this PC for just a little bigger you can get an ASUS Terminator and use an AMD Proc. Although, no DDR just yet... :(

Well try rendering a table of 200 comments or so in Netscape 4.7x then compare to IE (5.0 and above maybe)... then tell me what slow is.

I know, but if you have it blocked to begin with you won't get it :)
I unblocked my port on an unpatched version of IIS (stupid I know) and wham! But its all fixed now.
