Well, I recently upgraded to OO.org v2.0. I was thinking how cool it is that it saves in an XML format and how I could probably read through the XML and pick out info from the spreadsheet and writer documents in a text editor. Wrong! Its not all binary, but it definitely looks like a jumbled up mess to the untrained eye. I have faith that the documents are indeed open, but as far as human readable XML that it is not.

The upcoming DST changes will reduce the amount of energy we use. This is good. Hopefully, market forces and high gas prices will change American buying habits for autos. If gas prices stay high people will slowly change their buying patterns on vehicles, their views of mass transportation, etc... I know the DART rail here in Dallas is now over crowded due to high fuel costs. When I drive to work I notice that the parking lot for the DART rail nearby is often overflowing with cars. Here is a quote from our local Dallas Morning news:

"Rising gas prices are prompting a growing number of North Texas commuters to park their cars in favor of buses and trains, but Dallas Area Rapid Transit is considering service cuts to help balance its budget.

Though DART ridership has increased 11 percent on its bus and light-rail lines and 18 percent on the Trinity Railway Express commuter line, the additional passengers have not helped the agency's finances."

I guess I have different expectations. After all I am listening to MP3s... As far as the cassette adapter goes its far better than the FM transmitter option, but not as good as a direct line in.

I suppose "sound quality is great" was a bit of an overstatement. I think "sound quality is good" would have been more accurate. I have not listened to any classical music on my ipod yet, and given my very low end stereo in my car I don't expect much out of it. I used to be spoiled on high end sound, but those days are gone for now.

Anyway, I would be interested in seeing some links to the analysis you read if it is online.

Out of curiosity, do you have a mini? Mine sounds just fine. I have docked it to my stereo and use a cassette adapter for the car daily. With the cassette adapter you have to be careful about the volume. Turn it to about 75 - 80% and you should be golden. So in summary, the sound quality from my mini is great.

Nobody buys a game and plays it for 2 hours. Buying a game is a big time commitment. I watch maybe one movie every other week. So I spend 12 * 4 = 48-hours a year watching movies. When I buy a new game I play it way more than 48-hours total. In fact, I would guess that I use up 48-hours worth of entertainment time in the first 3-months. I even played Battlefield 2 for 7 - 8 hours last Saturday. (DOH!)

That leads to a big productivity time drain. Now, the argument could be said that that time substitutes other equally unproductive time, but for me thats not the case.
