  1. Seti@home on Convergence of P2P and Grid Predicted · · Score: 3, Insightful
What about the Seti P2P system. Who does that steal from? Well, what can we expect since you clearly commented before having time to read the story? Just so you know the story's focus was more techinical and it talk about what a P2P network is abstractly. It discussed what it could be when combined with Grid Computing.

It is a serious well supported argument. You are just shooting your mouth off with ad hominiem attacks which probably aren't valid.

I think that people mostly just want speed and user-friendliness out of their computer programs. No matter what features Windows throws on, I don't think they'll stop defections. People will want a free reliable OS once and for all.

That's my opinion, I could be wrong.

It's generally idle a lot more than half the time. If you want to increase processing power then it is safe to assume you are not satisfied with the amount you have.

why not use that idle time, like say HT!
The only way to use CPU time is running processes. Hyper threading runs a couple of processes at once, increasing idle time. I hope you're aware that modern processors run other processes while waiting. Even the most remedial script kiddie should know that. That's how come you can have an OS, Freecell game, and browser running at once.

I had a hard time getting her off of AOL, although she feels the change made her understand computers better.

I'd partion but I got an 8GB hard drive and don't want to bother. When I move out I think I'll build my own computer and partition the hard drive. I'll be able to monkey with the computer more when my mom doesn't need to use it.
