    It could be SuprNova trying to make a point that they need to be decentralised!

    Or the KazaA guys trying to make more people download KazaA3+Skype.

    Now we just need to wait for 2.4 versions of py2exe, cx_Freeze3, wxPython 2.5.3.1, SPE, IDLE, PyQt, SWIG etc. before we can start using this!

    I expect some software will even die now - like McMillan Installer, as development stopped on 2.3, unless 2.4-devel has some excellent backwards compatibility with 2.3 libraries.

    I'm sticking to 2.3.4 for a good while yet, don't have a use for decorators.....

    Faster rip speeds (not limited to ripping movies at 2x instead of 16x)

    Region free (watch any movie)

    Better media compatibility (write at 12x to those pesky Riteks)

    Single layer bitsetting (DVD+R and DVD-R appear as DVD-ROMs)

    I expect someone to even turn on the DVD-RAM reading capability in the NEC's chipset.

    The decision for me is being swayed towards the NEC just because it has some very nice hacked firmware.

    I wonder when the big companies will start catching on that they're not offering enough in their firmware, and sales are being lost due to that.

    Newegg seem to have some nice deals on the NEC and Pioneer.

    In reply to those who obviously don't know what I'm talking about (or can't read properly) I was talking about water cooling (as per the article) only, not peltiers or inert gases!

    A WATER COOLING SYSTEM for computers cannot cool below room temperature.

    Water can only cool to the ambient temperature of the room, and not below as some people seem to think - which is why it is no better than air/fan solutions, except for lower noise.

    You'd be better off cooling your room with AC, and getting the benefit of cooling yourself, not just your processor!

    Well I can't see many people buying this version as we all know it's going to be re-released with the new trilogy in a year or so in a spanking box set, like Lord Of The Rings.

    So I guess everyone will get a pirate copy of this version, and wait to spend their coffers on the full six episode version in a year.

    I do think it's BS that he thinks piracy will kill the whole industry with 3 years though! It didn't do it for music, and that's a lot easier to copy.

    Hmm, but is the Real stuff download as .RM files?

    You'd lose a bit of quality converting .RM [via WAV or CD Audio] to MP3...

    I really wish there was a non-DRM download site, which used Ogg/FLAC or something.

    As I've just been to a website, which I refreshed a couple of times, then suddenly Firefox thought all my bookmarks were that site!

    Even viewing the properties of other bookmarks showed the properties of that site (which was also bookmarked).

    Maybe they should have a bug forum, which didn't require registration, where you could just file bugs, without having to go through the rules of Bugzilla.

    I think it's due to this being v1.0 (or 0.10) and the last 3-4 versions were just defined as "0.9" so plugins for 0.9.0 still worked through 0.9.3

    It's the same problem when moving from 0.8, you can often just fix it by changing the version number in the .xpi file, or sometimes I found try installing the extension twice (install, quit, install, quit, then it works!)

    Yeah, or you install over the old one, and it leaves all the previous "Add/Remove Program" entries.

    Also, if you elect not to install shortcuts, it still creates an empty folder in your Start Menu.

    1. 1.0PR doesn't seem to work with Neomail's cookies anymore. I guess I'll have to wait until 1.0 final, or switch to Horde....

    2. "x" Extension doesn't work anymore :-(

    3. www.x10.com popunders are no longer prevented when you leave their site, although the popup when you enter the site is blocked still.

    4. Secure sites turn the address bar yellow.

    Luckily the stupid "popup message bar" thing can be turned off, but as is normal with Firefox, Christ knows how you turn it back on again, without editted a shedload of hidden XML files!

    Whatever you end up organising, one way to definitely make it a success is to do it during work hours.

    There's nothing I hate more than having "team building" exercises forced onto me after work - Hell I'm not getting paid overtime for this crap!

    And what's even worse is when you have a work Xmas dinner at PF Changs and your $250k VP makes you pay for yourselves and spouses! Yeah you know I mean you Richard S!

    If you're forcing some crappy event on your staff, at least do it out of petty cash or your own pocket! As you can tell, this MBA crap is p1ssing me off!

    How about "do whatever you want (except go home) Friday 4pm" or something?

    Or "I'll get the first two rounds at the pub during the two-hour lunch and pay for taxis Thursday?"

    Casual dress Friday with free donuts always works well.

    The whole MPEG4 issue is very cloudy - like anything from iTunes is not MPEG4 and not AAC, it's AAC with a broken MPEG DRM container tagged on top. Also, DivX is not MPEG4 as many people seem to think.

    Well I can't see HP pre-installing DeCSS for you to use with Xine.

    The MPAA haven't left them any choice but to bundle LinDVD (with a commercial CSS license).

    Hey at least SUSE allows it's users to play MP3's...

    Well, said OO is totally overrated.

    I've seen job applications that *require* OO Perl and OO PHP - WTF, have those people actually tried doing OO PHP and seen how cludgey it is?

    OOP, just like Java is a bloody buzzword for PHB's.

    Python is beautiful though - and not because it's OO, but because it's got rid of all the crap like "{}", ";", "public static void", "system.writeln"
