I can certainly see prioritizing official traffic, but I think it would be better not to cut off everything else. After all, people need to be able to get information and communicate in order to help themselves and their loved ones, even if they're not in uniform. Especially if, like Katrina, the officials stand around at the perimter of the disaster for two or three days scratching their heads.

It would be a moot point if you got a HDMI cable with your HD TV.
No, you still need a cable for each source device to go into your receiver, plus one more to go from the receiver to the display. It works out perfect if each device includes a cable. I realize most people don't have multiple HDMI sources yet, but it's no different than how most people with a PS2 also have a standalone DVD player, and both need a connection to the display. I would think DVR's will be another HDMI source at some point, if they're not already.

Yeah, but that's always the official line on animals. No matter how many surfers are eaten by sharks in a year, every single news report of an attack will always say how unusual it is, and how sharks normally don't attack people.

On the other hand, since it was Stever Irwin, it's easy to imagine he was trying to horse around with them. I don't see why that makes people vindictive though. When Dale Earnhart died, I didn't hear anybody say "Ha! Only a fool would drive in Nascar!" We all choose to take some chances, and my guess (just a guess) is that if there had been 100,000 Stever Irwins, more would have died in traffic accidents than due to animals.

It's not hard to see something beating WoW. Look at it this way, with FPS's, there was Doom, then Quake, Quake2 and everyone kneeled to the alter of id. Then along came Half-Life, and the FPS arena went there.
MMORPGs are different, the network effect (the benefit of doing what everybody else is doing) is much stronger. Half-Life was originally viewed as a largely single player game, and was well worth playing standalone. At no point did you have hundreds of hours invested and nontransferrable in a persistent character you'd built up. Right now, my guess for the successor to WoW is that it could be a while, even as WoW changes into a de-facto new game over time. Or maybe its owners will decide to take a risk on renaming the venture at some point, but people's characters will still live on in the "new" game. At some point in the future I could imagine the competition trying to make some way to carry WoW characters over into their own games, followed by an antitrust lawsuit forcing Blizzard to allow it.

Thats for antialiasing... and yes, it will consume more rays but there are other ways to handle antialiasing that don't need to cast another entire sequence of rays... especially if what you were looking for in a game was the sort of reflective and refractive effects you can't get with shaders.
I disagree. You will never geat realistic scenes working on the assumption that most materials are not reflective - not because of antialiasing, but because accurate lighting requires accurate light models, and the truth is light bounces off everything (but a black hole). That's why typical raytraced scenes don't look right, and why you need other techniques like radiosity. But then you have to go beyond using just one ray for typical surfaces.
