I predicted a while back that new Napster would go over like new Coke! They just can't convince people to buy vapor that can go poof with a false keystroke, or mouse click, especially since it used to be free.

The only paid download service that will survive is i-tunes by virtue of being first. They can sell the idea that their downloads are clean of viruses and spyware, and cleaner sounding than Kazaa et al, but new Napster will never convince anyone that they are better than original. Kitty will be joining the pets.com sock dog in marketing oblivion soon.

The same comment will be modded down to -1 as troll and up to +5 as funny, and down again, probably leveling at 2. The fight can last days! Here's one now. So, Microshaft is pissed a Hewlett-Packard-Bell for working with Apple? Does that mean that pavilion PCs won't have Windows anymore? I hope so! The hardware will still suck ass, though. I think I'll get a Compaq.

    2. Sell the mostly bootleg (but some perfectly genuine)discs you stole from street vendors while playing cop. While most street vendors are selling counterfeits and bootlegs, that doesn't justify vigilantism. I am sure some of the dealers they will harass are gangstas who will bust a cap in their ass. The playing cop scheme will then abruptly end. As the fake cops lie there bleeding to death, they will have to ask themselves, "Was it worth it? Was it really worth it?"

True. Napster was the greatest form of promotion that the recording industry ever had, and they looked a gift horse in the mouth. They didn't even have to give Napster payola like they do with radio. They even made "copy protected" CDs that won't work in a cd-rom drive to keep people from sharing their music on Napster. Maybe they don't because they still believe in the cabbage patch or the stork, and are unaware of the connection between babies and sex. This kinda reminds me of Cincinnati, Ohio. eMachines have only been around since 1998, and have greatly improved since hitting the scene as a bargain box. Did you know that a lot of HP pavilions have eMachine motherboards? eMachines are no worse than any other name brand, except for Apple and Alienware.

The thing that really looks promising about eMachines is that it is a privately held firm. Unlike publicly traded companies that care only about shareholders, and are screwing them at every opportunity, a privately held firm must answer to its customers. The entire PC industry sucks like American car manufacturers in the 1970s. I have been watching for the computer version of Honda/Toyota/Datsun to come kick ass. Maybe eMachine will be that.
