The GameCube control is NOT meant for fighting games (at least not far advanced ones)

Maybe it's just me, but I LOVE the GC controller, even for fighting games. Soul Caliber 2 plays like a dream with it (okay...maybe that's not what you meant by far advanced ones). I like how the GC controller is not horribly symmetric, if you know what I mean...not rows of buttons placed neatly one above the other. I always have had problem with consoles putting more than 2 buttons in a single row (my thumb just isn't long enough to reach the third set!!), but the GC puts all of the buttons just in reach, with the most important button the largest, unlike the XBox Controllers (even the S) who's black and clear (or is it white??) buttons I can never reach without some serious grip manipulation (seriously detremental in Halo I might add).

    Oh...and MORE RPGS!!

    Cheers, Chris

The network adapter allows you to connect the Dreamcast to your network. It's also sometimes called a broadband adapter. Depending on you choices of games/software, you can do many things. If you use the linux/net bsd port I believe that you can SSH into other machines...do basic *nix stuff. There are some games for the Dreamcast that utilize the network connection (although few and far between). I've never had any experience with connecting one to a wireless network...my guess is it's not all that easy because the Dreamcast came out before wireless was proliferating as much as it is now. You can purchase special DC keyboards and mice that use the controller connectors...I've also found some stuff online that shows how to rewire a ps/2 device to work with it (sorry, lost the link a while ago...but I'm sure you'll find it if you google).

Hope that helps and good Dreamcasting (it's my favorite system out there).

  8. Re:What's the big deal? on LOTR: Two Towers Extended Edition Reviewed · · Score: 1

A fun story doesn't HAVE to have a "deep" plot. I venture to question, have you ever read the books? The movies were based on books you know...three of them...three longs books therefore three long movies. Don't get me wrong, I love the Matrix series, it's fun to try and figure everything out, but realize that not every movie HAS to be that way. I like LOTR because it's a fun movie to watch, but at the same time, there are amazing changes inside characters (and maybe that's me being spoiled by reading the novels first). It isn't so much trying to figure out the philosophy of it, but rather trying to figure out the emotion of it.

Yes the ring is evil, throughout the movie/books. The reason that it takes so bloody long is because it's a long bloody way to Mount Doom. I, frankly, would be dissapointed if they could just walk 3/4 of the distance with no conflict, break into Mordor, destroy the ring, and everything would be honky-dory. The conflict is what builds the characters.

Anywho, rather than continueing my rant, I just want to let you know that not all movies have to be the Matrix, just as not all movies have to be LOTR. Each movie is a different creative vision, a difference plot, with a different purpose in mind.

I'm a Tolkien fanboy...no question about it. I can't help but wonder if this game will damage his creation (Middle-Earth). I don't know how they are going to effectivelly make a MMORPG out of this...there are only a few main characters (maybe around 25 at the most). How can they have a million and a half Aragorns running around in a Middle-Earth. If they start making up their own characters, it will throw the whole basis of the storyline off...especially if they can't touch the Silmarillion. At least the Silmarillion left enough open stories to make a better game...LOTR is such a closed and set in stone story to make a MMORPG of it. I could see an RPG, but a MMORPG won't work. I for one, won't buy it...regardless of my high regards for the original author. I may play a little of it at a friends house or something, but I have no desire to support the tainting.

Not quite...the difference in this case is that Rockstar owns the copyright to the game...not Sony. Rockstar just signed an agreement to only release for the Sony system not to give Sony the claim to Rockstar's stuff. Rockstar could change it to whatever the hell they want...it's just a legal grey area whether they are breaching their contract with Sony.
