By "well" you of course mean "well for Blizzard." It's not entirely smooth for those ppl who made characters only to see their realm go down for 1-2 days: Server Status Forum
Also, and I realize this is not the main point of your post, but MS games? What have they developed themselves that's been good?
On the other hand, I find stats detract fromt he game. People start worrying about the little numbers and stop having fun just playing. and if you're teammates with them, you either have to start putting absurd importance on them or they act like assholes to you. It detracts from the game experience. I don't want an overarching experience, I want a game. If I want a persistant experience I'll play an MMO.
Make sure you don't play a pvp MMO because those same pvp kiddies will come into the game and bring their number-centric approach to it. I've been playing Lineage II for a while and I've noticed this.
On Lionna where I play, someone says there were 2 soul scavengers up at once the other day. I hope C2 has more stuff like this in it. People I know who played Lineage I are disappointed that the GMs don't seem to do anything new for ppl.
The rumor I heard about the undead army was that they were going to destroy areas to make room for C2.
OMG I wish they would destroy some of these areas. The early game in Lineage II is pretty tired now. Depending on your level, this can include almost everything in the game at this point. I would certainly like to see chaos other than random PK.
There are rumors of an undead army appearing someplace in Lineage II's world of Aden. For the past couple of weeks there's been a repeating systemwide announcement saying "A great evil is approaching..." and then more recently "The evil moves deeper into Aden." Then just 2 days ago, an announcement came that an undead army had arisen around one of the northern towns. Lots of people flocked there but as far as I know, the announcement was premature.
I've seen a number of posts about how Japan has much faster connections for much lower rates. Is it just the fact that everything is closer together there than in the US that makes this possible?
Or are there other technologies in place that allow it?
Maybe they'll have telephone activation? I guess the thing does say activation by STEAM. Well then maybe they don't care if they lose some people if they reduce shrink by a lot.
You're right especially in the case of Iraq. The problem there (the administration's current rendition of the problem) was the Hussein was a dictator and oppresive and that's all certainly true. In that case more than anywhere else, my argument is valid. I think someone like that uses his people as a weapon, or maybe more like ammunition. A military war against the oppressed people who are forced to fight on Hussein's side is just playing into his hands. What does he care who lives? When he looks at his country he really only sees himself and maybe a few of his advisors.
It's such an old joke and I'm such a math teacher that I'm forced to point out that:
let x = -3then x^2 = 9 if you take the square root of both sides you get x = 3.
Technically you should instead write |x| = 3 which covers the actuality that x is in fact -3. I had to find a way to explain the + or - part of the quadratic formula to my Algebra 2's and that's what I did.
What you've really proved is that women are either evil or the opposite of evil.
That's always been the way it works. People at the top only see other people at the top. So for example a war "with" Iraq was really only about one man, even though he probably suffered the least as a result. Certainly he isn't one of the dead. In the eyes of many heads of state, a country is its leader, not its people. Since the people aren't all that involved in the decisions, maybe this is appropriate.
...there's plenty of companies that usually deliver what they promise. The one that comes to mind immediately is Blizzard. I mean, have they made a bad game?
Many of the people at Blizzard who brought the best games to you have since left. Not disagreeing, just an observation.
I'd like to see a similar study done for classrooms, especially now that all kinds of data is being gathered and "drilled down." Maybe it would convince my school to maintain a normal temperature in my frigid classroom. Actually my classroom is frigid when it's warmer out and hot when it's colder. The climate control has no middle ground. not that the little box on the wall in my room has anything to do with the temperature.

Yesterday I was "teaching" Discrete Mathematics and one of the students in that class has an older brother who also took the class with me a few years ago. She's doing much better in the class than he did. She mentioned in passing that her brother was better at math than she was, because you know, he's a guy. This is so far from the truth that I had to wonder where she could have gotten the idea. Maybe girls get these ideas from someplace. I admit that schools have something to do with it too.
Game development is a *business*. That means that they are in this *to make money*. They have employees, rent, etc.
So, if piracy costs them sales, then they have to raise the price to compensate. Or perhaps they decide NOT to make that cool new experimental game which might be a big hit or it might flop. "Let's just stick to making another FPS. Not too original, but it will sell like hotcakes."
At one time, businesses existed to make a product, not solely to make a profit. And do you really think that popular games are less subject to piracy than experimental ones? As in "if we make just another FPS no one will pirate it and our profits will be safe"? It's true that big publishers abandoned innovation in favor of sequels and extending franchises. I won't agree that piracy was a major factor in this decision. More likely greed: putting profits ahead of products.
If a candidate from any party cannot convince people to vote for him, then that's just tough. In the case of the Democratic party there are just so many people working round the clock on this convincing that Kerry gets no sympathy if he can't win by a wide enough margin to withstand Ralph Nader.

I have a friend who is an IT lawyer. We've been friends since college days. Real nice guy. Married, two kids. You could make a Martha Stewart-style TV movie about them.
When I saw the word "lawyer" and the name Martha Stewart I expected your story to end in prison.:D
Yes you're right it's a lot more efficient for teachers to create instructional materials by hand or on an old school typewriter and not be able to communicate with parents via email. Any teacher can just pick up the telephone here on our desk and talk to parents that way or maybe just go over to kids' houses.

I suppose so but everyone has a conscience.
