At home I use an old PIII 450MHz @ 300MHz with a heatsink and 256MB RAM ... microATX casing, silent WD 13GB HDD... perfect as a router/webserver/proxy, and if you buy these kind of specs right now, you'd pay about what, 100$?

I got one of these phones a few weeks ago (Hail Europe!) and Nokia provides SyncML sofware on their CD, along with 3 games: Bounce, some card games (Klondike 'n stuff) and Triple Pop.

You can download an updated version of the Videorecorder app from the Nokia site as well, instead of video only, you get video & audio.

I especially like the PC-Suite, you can drag 'n drop an mp3 to your mobile (if it's linked through cable, IR or BT) and it automatically is converted to a .wav/.mid ringtone (including the lyrics, I've got Shaggy's "Sexy Lady" if my GF gives me a call), and you can download all data to your PC/laptop, or make a "real" backup. And last of all, I truly LOVE the fact that it's got an upgradeable 16MB SDcard in it (max 64MB I think).

So if my eyes are in motion - like reading /. - it means I'm busy? Great, now my boss can remotely monitor my activities and think I'm working! Still a neat concept though... I wonder if you can set the "attention level" yourself. I mean if you're stuck with a problem and just thinking behind your computer doesn't necessarily mean you can be bothered with something else, especially spam. No, I don't think that will ever happen, it's just too big a risk. I mean, any black hat running around in your office pretending to be the plumber/cleaner/whatever could hold his disk next to the R&D section's PC.
As a sysadmin myself, I would _NOT_ use that kind of tech, regardless of encryption etc. unless there's a dongle/hardware kind of tie in... but even then I would really wait until the tech matured enough for me to be comfortable with.

I am not really suggesting RAMDISK, btw - I just think that you can compile your OS / programs with option like "I have massive memory so use it lavishly and don't touch that drive."

Isn't this what Linux Live cd's like Knoppix are about? They create a virtual ramdisk so the more memory, the better. And what's more, they don't touch your harddrive unless you tell them to.

So yes I think it's possible to set your OS up like that, maybe you could ask the guys at knoppix.
