one thing I learned in general english in college was to use BS to cover BS, and SCO seems to have learned the same thing.
Hopefully, with IBM, Novell, and Redhat all equipped with shovels, SCO has a little chance of being able to beat them in a BS shoveling match. Now I gotta go weld some sheet metal to my pitchfork so it can shovel better.
a slideruler like conversion tool...something cheaper than having mechanical ones specially made.
I'd rather see that money go towards the next rover or the next Mars mission. But this does leave room for some ways for NASA to raise funds in other ways than from taxes....by selling merchandise to fans! A collector's Mars watch where the proceeds go towards funding the Mars Exploration Project.
I've had the same nail-scratching-blackboard experience, trying to locate the part I needed. Sony (USA) was clueless, Sony (JPN) was uptight, and the manufacturer of the part (some Korean company) just ignored me.
So how did I fix my dilemma? I used an old technique....called "pulling it from another"
I thought vigilante justice was illegal....if not...why the hell am I sitting at home while my pitchfork collects dust? There are plenty of scumbags to jab, like SCO, RIAA, etc.
this is weird....so much for privacy when you want it.... hell, I still can't get my exam scores from my university (they site "privacy issues" due to some federal law). what the hell is the point of privacy if the person whose privacy is to be protected, can't even access their own info.
man...my own axiom that I came up with over a decade ago keeps slapping my ass, "Bureacracy; If it makes sense, it ain't gonna happen." It's probably the most true tautology known to man.
what if I wanted to scan a dollar bill with the intent of changing the portait to include my face and changing the scene on the back to include me fishing (of course, changing the "Legal tender" to "Art" or something different)
It's probably better if they made it so if someone tried to print it without first modifying it (and making it unofficial), that it would print the words "Not Legal Tender" or something similar. Though I'm still against the whole idea of a digital, automated spy and this current method will most likely annoy customers and force them to look for alternatives (or for someone to find a "workaround").
well...that's the nail AND the coffin for this product.
I use to be a fan of minidisc....until I came across my iPod. I should spend some time converting my minidisc collection to mp3/ogg for archival purposes
isn't this old news? That M$ and security is a contradictory tautology? It's more secure to use ZIP (not WinZIP since WinZIP has a security weakness) or better yet, use RARs.
We keep assuming everyone is smart and in the know like/.'ers. And as the ol' saying goes, "Assumptions are the mother of all f*ck ups."
Of course, with all the smoke and mirrors (the forbidden word paradox, in this case, the "forbidden" code that's never mentioned officially), many investors don't know what the hell they've stepped in. Hopefully, they will smell it soon.
Man....microsoft must be using a signed integer....and it overflowed.
And don't they know that though the salary for a linux sysadmin is more, they typically can do more work (and more 1337), primarily because they have to do less "routine maintanance" like fixing crashes, and patching crap that shouldn't happen in the first place. Much like the different between a reliable car like a camry (linux) and a fancy car like a ford excursion (M$). Sure, the excursion has fancy features and maybe luxurious but it's a gas guzzler....(and it's a Ford, known for "mysterious fires and explosions"), while the camry is reliable and alot more fuel efficient (and easier to drive and park).
"instant-on WinXP means it'll also crash faster than normal XP. No more need to wait annoyingly for crashes. All for an amazingly low price of 4 payments of 34.99. But call now and we will pay one payment for you. That's right, you can go from 0 to crash in less time than ever for just 3 payments of 34.99!"
They should've went with Knoppix. Hell, there's even a version of Knoppix that is made for xmame-ing.
provided that they are more powerful than VIA and less (price-wise), they should be fine. The only thing keeping me from doing my own ITX project besides the funds is the fact that I don't like VIA; have had some REALLY bad experiences with VIA chipsets in the past and with their CSRs.
now if transmeta makes it so they have all the drivers available for not only the windows flavors but also *nix (and for BeOS for those hardcore fans), then they can probably get most/.'ers and such by the ba......er....that is if that particular person has 'em.
it's about time, 98 dies....though I still use it (as a bootdisk) on my compactflash to flash firmware (lot faster than a floppy and I can add more tools if need be easily).
only bad part of the bootCF is that...I've gotten so use to command-completion and "ls" for dir-listing....that...well...I intermix 'em...AHAHAH
I wish they enable firewire and usb (1.1/2.0) cdrom booting by default...(been lazy to customize it myself....especially with all the pitchforking in recent times).
Just like how the RIAA blame poor sales on piracy instead of the economy and crappy music, the reason why p2p sharing is going down can also be because of crappy music and the economy (ppl not being able to afford broadband anymore or the storage space or spend their time working menial jobs to survive, etc.)
Just because it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, walks like a duck, doesn't ALWAYS mean that it is...it can be a penguin in a duck suit. (lil' linux joke, btw).
the cops, the ups/fedex guy/gals, and a few others are breaking the law.
The law, like most is too vague and/or focused on the wrong thing though the intention might be good. Just like the CRV hike, which I think is stupid; a better way to encourage recycling is to make it so ppl can take their empty cans or bottles to the store they purchased from for recycling (turning all retailers into recycling centers). This makes more sense especially because the nearest recycling center is about 8 miles away and I don't drive (nor does public transportation go there....thx to budget "cuts). That's another thing....they say "cuts" but they never cut their own salaries (politicians and management, etc.).
Maybe it's time to get all the cops, fedex/ups guy/gals, and/.ers alike together and protest hypocritical a-holes.

and it's sexier....(the ipod that is)...and more pricier.
ogg? that's all I care (in addition to mp3)

TAXES...of course, it can also be because some govt/customs guy put the decimal point at the wrong spot in the USD to Canadian conversion.....
I think it's about time we fight fire with fire....by patenting the word "the" and sue SCO for infringing on it.
I've had the same nail-scratching-blackboard experience, trying to locate the part I needed. Sony (USA) was clueless, Sony (JPN) was uptight, and the manufacturer of the part (some Korean company) just ignored me.

my thoughts exactly...well mostly....need I have to remind HP that this is MICROSOFT!? The inventors of the BSOD as a product feature?
Hell, my #2 that I just flushed (with a help of a super-plunger) is a better format than WMA....
I'm just waiting for Ogg support for my ipod...
maybe I should go and look if there's a GPL/GNU firmware project around.
I thought vigilante justice was illegal....if not...why the hell am I sitting at home while my pitchfork collects dust? There are plenty of scumbags to jab, like SCO, RIAA, etc.

If the price is right, then it has a chance of being an iPod-Killer.

gotta give transmeta a hand for still trying.

it's all a part of the fun.
besides...it's better than the crap they have on TV.....(there are a few exceptions...I love my American Chopper and Monster Garage and Everwood).

ok...someone needs to stop smoking bad stuff....
o yea....THIS is offtopic.
wait...isn't there some spam law that goes into effect tonight at midnight?
Oh..the countdown continues.
terrorist? u mean the regional code?
