Oddly enough, I have the tendency to watch movies at 1.1x. Really bad Hollywood schlock gets 1.4x. You wouldn't believe how many pacing problems this can solve.
What software do you use to timestretch on-the-fly? I can do it by demuxing and re-encoding the audio and putting it all back together, but that's kind of a pain. Is there anything that will play regular old DVDs and Xvid/Divx at different speeds without making the sound squealy?
There is nothing inpressive in how long or how fast something slanderous and stupid was caught. Without Wiki it WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN UP AT ALL.
If you had a system where changes and additions had to be approved by other users before being applied to an article you would still get slander but in a different form -- slanderous people and trolls would simply watch the "waiting for approval" list and deny legitimate submissions while allowing their troll friends' slanderous submissions. Plus you'd have to worry about people making changes to an article that will be very different once a previously-made change gets approval, which would cause quite a headache.
Stupid question but if the pits are 6 times on HD the length why doesn't Blu-ray offer 6 times the capacity? Are they longer but thinner? Does Blu-ray waste three quarters of the disc for something else?
No, they waste five-sixths of the disc for something else.
Does running some tap water over part of the urinal really help stop the spread of diseases and germs? If so, why not have one flush every night to clean it out and remain 'waterless' during the day?
Granted this is a rough approximation, but it seems that GPUs are destined to waste all the power [watts] modern CPUs are saving.
You have a point, although the biggest need for low power CPUs is for laptops (i.e. running on batteries) which you typically wouldn't use to play 3-D games anyway, if they could even contain the high-powered GPUs to which you're referring.
I wouldn't equate the value of a song with that of a TV episode. How many times do you listen to a particular song? Lots. How many times do you watch a particular TV episode? Once, occasionally twice if you think you missed something.
Replay value is a huge factor, you can't just look at dollars per minute.
While you have a point that one should be able to get over the cost of a $10 CD and just buy it, but exactly where is the threshold? What if that CD is $25? $50? Should you just "get over it" and pay whatever the seller asks, no matter how ridiculous the price is? The producers of this kind of content rely on people buying it to repay the initial investment, so they have to be sensitive to consumers as well. Buying a $50 CD tells them it's okay to continue selling it and similar products at $50.
People didn't like the World Trade Center towers either, nor did was the office space occupied for some time after it's completion. There are tons of public works projects that people start out not liking (most likely because of the initial cost, which comes from their taxes) but end up being very useful and well-liked.
...the fact is, he was a person who did his utmost to live by his beliefs and to stand by what he considered important and of value.
I think statements like this are BS. Just because he stood by his principles doesn't mean he was a good man. What if his principles were radical and against the general will of the people? What if the guy grossly misinterpretted the Constitution, according to 90% of Americans?
I'm not saying Rehnquist did this, but it's not good to blindly praise someone who stood by their principles when their principles were bad.
She went on to explain that, although they have paddocks with high electric fences to keep their current populations where they want them, they are inadequate for elephants.
She's probably right. You saw what happened with the Tyrannosaurus Rex when the power went out.
But where do I find those feeds? AFP feeds aren't free, Yahoo pays for them and hosts the articles. The bottom line is I still can't replicate my Yahoo content on Google or Start.
Why is it that only My Yahoo carries AFP news? On top of that, Start.com only has US-centric sports feeds (I'm an American, but I follow international soccer).
While Start's interface is pretty slick, I gotta stick with Yahoo for the multitude of feed options.
MyWay.com already offers a much more customizable, ad-free homepage than Google which rivals Yahoo's. Unfortunately, only Yahoo has AFP news sections, plus a plethora of others that Google and MyWay do not have. The "most popular photos" are often amusing. If you haven't checked out Yahoo recently, do so, they made their UI pretty slick recently.
Are you by any chance a Soviet Russian?
I had no idea what you were talking about, I had to look it up... Just thought I'd help others.

I hear a lot of those acronyms when I watch The Daily Show With Jon Stewart (NAMBLA).

Oh shut the hell up, pedant. It's basically an inch squared. No one can conceptualize odd decimal volumes, describing it as an inch is sufficient.
