They're just playing it safe. Since each new release (beta or not) contains some changes, there's always a chance that one of those changes will negatively affect a particular extension. All the extension author needs to do is check that it's working and increment the version number. I realize this is inconvenient (especially when new releases come out every few weeks at this point in the cycle), but it's the only way to be sure that things work. If you don't care about being sure (as I don't), go ahead and use this hack.

At least they allow authors to use future version numbers once Firefox is stable -- an extension can be ready for 2.0.0.* so that every little security fix that Mozilla issues (which is not supposed to change the API or features) won't break the extension.

Collect your online work into your own portfolio and put that online (with the URL on your resume). That way many employers will see your work without all the crap that might show up in a Google search. If they want to Google you anyway then they will and you can't control that, but putting your best work forward might satisfy their curiosity or at least draw a line between what you're serious about and what you've put on the web as part of your personal life. If you give your employer enough information to get a good picture of you, they likely won't look much further. And a portfolio gives you control over what they'll see.

I agree with most of your post, but as education varies by state, your "special ed" section doesn't always apply. My fiancée is a special ed teacher in New York State and she works in the same classroom as the rest of the students. There is a main, "regular ed" teacher who conducts the class while she works individually with the special ed students to keep them up to speed. They all take the same tests and have the same amount of work to do, and many of them do better (probably due to the personal attention that all students could benefit from). Granted these kids have learning disabilities, ADD, Asperger's, and other 'milder' disabilies; those with Down Syndrome, non-mild Autism, and mental retardation are in a different class governed by different rules.

Exactly. All (or nearly all) ISPs and cable TV providers, as well as local network affiliates, use big satellites to receive signals from the networks. ESPN is not going to run dedicated cables from Bristol, CT to every single provider in the country, that would be ridiculous. If you have a huge satellite dish on your house and you regularly maintain it (clean it, check the insulation for leaks, brush off the snow and ice) then you'll get a fantastic signal as well. But the only way you could afford that is to sell access to your signal via wires to people in your neighborhood, which would make you a cable provider.
