One of the things about this disease is that, for a weaker person, getting this flu is similar to getting any other flu. Obviously not good, but then you could catch a different bug at any time.
This flu causes a reaction such that the body fills itself with mucus, causing pneumonia-like problems. The immune systems of people who are 18-35 are usually very strong; however, it is the body's (over)reaction to this flu that puts our healthy demographic's lives in danger.
If you have a bad immune system you'll overreact less.
I'd like to hear both sides of the story. As important as the EFF is, they tend to ignore anything that doesn't fit with their message, especially when it comes to legal proceedings.
Since Apple is Apple, I doubt we will hear much from them. But I would like to point out that there is a strong bias on the part of the EFF to selectively use facts for propaganda.
...This is the equivalent of the RIAA asking to get all of the advertising revenue generated by all torrent tracking sites...
I don't think this is the case because the torrent sites are not actually supplying the content. In this case, not only are the "bad" sites supplying the content, but they're making money off of it. They are themselves the infringing party. If the two parties were major corporations, you could bet there would be a problem regardless of whether there were any ads or not.
If the publishers can make a contractual deal, more power to them- I agree that something other than DMCA needs to be done here.
I know this isn't a very popular view on slashdot, but some type of compromise (maybe not this one), needs to be reached in order to prevent lazy bums from making money off of a plagiarized article.
I can't believe how horribly informed (or trollish) people are. The companies that had a similar case were Microsoft and Yahoo.
Yahoo CEO = Jerry Yang (the guy the parent thinks he is referencing) Microsoft CEO = Steve Ballmer (The guy who throws chairs and says "I'm going to fucking kill Google!")
He has no hardware design experience, he needs someone else to design and layout the circuit. gEDA will not work for him.
That said, gEDA is ok for many things, but it lacks in features compared to the free Mentor Graphics PADS version that is probably good enough for his needs. It is also way too hard to create custom schematic symbols in gEDA. FOSS is way behind when it comes to this, unfortunately- I wish it were different.
For most of my media, I use my phone through iTunes. Apple has a really nice "Remote" application that runs fairly well. iTunes does have to be open on your target computer, though.
Right now I don't think Remote integrates with DVD Player or VLC. This would be a good time for an open specification.
I'd like to point out that nowhere in the BBC article does it mention that the religion has to be Christianity. What's more, spirituality is what plays the important role here, not necessarily "religion." Religion is one way to spirituality. If you watched enough JUMP anime, you could also theoretically get a good dose of spirituality.
People are under the stereotype that having any sort of spirituality = "I believe in God." This is not the case, as with me. I'm an atheist, but I know religion plays an incredibly important role in helping us rationalize the world. Some rationalizations are obviously different from others. Think of religion a type of philosophy- if you have that, you're good to go. Stay positive.
I agree it was someone with a lot of money and not a very good idea of how to do this. Since they're using Windows 2003 Server, I'd assume they would want a SAS RAID Card and SAS drives. They also could have made a RAID 10 for kick ass disk performance. Use eSATA RAID card to connect to external storage.. honestly what's one more PCI Express slot? This computer is like a transmorgified "not a server" and "not an uber desktop." Which brings up the question: What do they use it for?
I quit playing WoW during the first expansion. I was a restoration druid, which was great when the game started, but other classes (paladin) got upgrades so that people had a natural bias to prefer them.
The other problem was that there was no gear to be had for restoration druids. Compared to the stuff a priest or paladin could get, it became a seriously neglected class. Try finding a socketed leather item with high-level bonuses... not much there. In terms of leather vs cloth, Priests have spells to make up for the fact that they use cloth. If a druid used cloth, they were basically dead.
I didn't feel very guilty about making the peon cry when I terminated my subscription.
I worked at CompUSA, and our management was constantly trying to get us to sign people up with *AOL*. The whole thing was so ridiculous that even the department managers didn't fire us for lack of sales.
The people who made a lot of money on commissions were the hardware guys selling compete systems. I never got to see a big benefit from selling the plans, other than I got to keep my job.
The French translation is perfect. By using the tu form (fais) of faire (to do), they're trying to make it sound like they're your homework buddy. Kind of disgusting how they market it that way.
fais = you (familiar) do mes = my devoirs = homework (in this translation)
If you've bought an iPod touch or an iPhone in the past 2 years, apple has a free program called "Remote." It lets you browse all your music/movies from iTunes over wifi, do coverflow from your mini to the iWhatever, etc. Then you tap on your movie/music and it plays it through the computer.
It absolutely love it; It can be found in the App Store.
I started playing SC in 1997 and became a decent player over a period of about 7 years. I didn't play much Brood War, as "vanilla" was what I knew best.
I think micromanagement is the most interesting aspect of sc. The game always seemed to be a balance between time spent managing resources and buildings and time managing individual units. It really got me to reflect on my life and figure out, "How can I make X a little better?" It sounds a little dumb, but it really helped me out. The people were also pretty cool.
About zerg and rushing: If you have zvz, the most annoying thing you can do to your opponent is kill them by building and destroying creep colonies in their base. That's because there's a relatively low cost of canceling a creep colony, you can easily start one, stop it, take your drone and start another one if your opponent attacks it with his/her drones. Zerglings are for after you've morphed your creep colonies into sunken colonies and humiliated your enemy with your superior micromanagement skills- they clean up any drones that get away.
The other way cool thing was playing all the custom maps people built. That was really an awesome feature.
They've got to test it on someone.
I think this thread needs some Lithium.. that's on topic, right?
You need dual link DVI for a 30" Display
dip?
I doubt Apple uses DIP at all. I would expect something more like SOIC.

I actually have that and I can attest that the only thing it recognizes is pornography.

You may return to 4chan now.
No, I think it's related to global warming! :-)

Emphasis mine. The very quote you mentioned clearly states he uses exploits for profit. The GP is completely right- this guy is a black hat.

You missed a few:
1. Name 3 countries in Africa.
2. Name 3 countries in Australia.

Big ups to the old toylanders on USEast!
"My genes are shit."
So are everyone else's. People aren't nearly as perfect as you make them to be.
You're really lucky. My app left me after I told her I wasn't ready for "long-term commitment."
