There's research currently going on that wants to build nanites specifically for the purpose of attacking and removing cancerous tissue. Personally, I think that's a very promising solution to the problem.
I don't think they qualify as sheep. He may have made some significant impacts in the computing world, but that doesn't make his opinions infallible and correct for the rest of his life. He, as anyone else, has the right to be opinionated and be criticized for that opinionation.
Um... what?

First of all... how is this news? Robosaurus is at least 10 years old, cuz I saw it at a monster truck rally when i was little. Second of all.. even if it isn't news.. how is it interesting? It just says look.. this is robosaurus... this is a picture of it... that the air force took... yay...
Although the creators are going to become billionaires, I feel bad for the people who work at Google, because with an IPO comes investors, and a corporate atmosphere. Basically, I see an end to the days of lounging around on bean bag chairs and playing arcade games for the employees. You usually can't do that stuff when investors are involved.
Whoa... it appears I inadvertedly started a flamewar with what was meant to be a simple joke. (I don't actually believe that Linux can't or shouldn't be used to make money)
The Computer Science House at Rochester Institute of Technology has built 2 networked soda machines, and is currently working on building a robot that delivers the soda to the rooms. I'd like to actually see this U of F robot in action, because one of the problems RIT is having is difficulties avoiding hazards, like people...
I always liked how on the NFO's that groups released, a lot of them made the statement "If you like this product and have a use for it, BUY IT, and support the developers."(paraphrased)
I mean it obviously doesn't absolve them from wrongdoing, but it's a nice gesture considering that they're obviously not required to put it there.
I just recently thought about how Google is becoming so massive and powerful that they might soon be equated to Microsoft, and how people hate MS so much but love Google to death.
They both have control over their respective sectors, but I think the defining issue is what kind of business practices they keep and how open and giving they are to their "customers". If you ask me, it seems like Google is well on their way to being a monopoly that everyone loves.
I assume these speed changes will be transferred over to Firefox as well, since it uses the Mozilla code base. That will likely make Firefox amazingly fast, since it's already faster than the stock Mozilla.
I don't know if anyone else feels this way, but I'm kind of let down by the fact that our most interesting space story for awhile now is that we MAY have a 10th planet in our solar system. Scientists should stop arguing over what constitutes a planet and instead work on exploring space. There's so much out there, we need a government that's willing to go find it.
Army of computers perhaps... eventually when Bill decides the time is right, he will activate his backdoor system and harness the might of all Windows computers around the world. (What's scary is that would be damn near enough to bring down governments) =p
Yes, several other people have mentioned this but, I think I'm probably one of the only ones who sat there for a minute trying to determine whether or not this was part of the site or an actual error... =p

The whole fact that SCO was willing to settle so easily, and give up their rights to bitching, proves that they know they don't have a leg to stand on.
I've been using Linux for so long now I've forgotten what it's like to get viruses and need anti-virus software...
But seriously, although it's nice to see Microsoft improve their product, this is going to destroy the AV companies since most people don't care about how robust a solution is, as long as they're told that it's there.
Actually, I much prefer the TV characters to the movie characters. Michael Shanks is much more believable as Daniel, and I can't think of anyone more perfect than Richard Dean Anderson to be Jack. Kurt Russell just doesn't have the same charisma and sense of humor.
I agree, but not for flamewarring purposes. I tried Gnome for awhile, and generally got a feeling of dissatisfaction with GTK. It's more annoying to theme, and doesn't play well with others. QT has a much more modern design and much more potential.

It's Linux? And it's not free.... does not compute...

I don't quite see how this is about My Rights Online. Sounds like mySQL is just making useful allowances for open source software...
Perhaps I'm just used to the normal bad "Your Rights Online" articles. =p

Maybe now people will start switching to open formats like OGG and FLAC.

I read the "article" and then I read the replies and noticed everyone talking about how horribly written and short it was.
I liked it.
...you insert your brand new copy of the much-awaited Windows XP Reloaded and it reboots your system and reinstalls XP?

OK, screwed that one up a bit. By rest of the world I did mean the USSR and US.
You're only 43 years behind the rest of the world...

Who the hell modded me insightful? That was meant as a joke... lol
