I've heard about systems in cities that read number plates and time you between their different locations to see if you are speeding, I'm guessing a system like this could be used, just a matter of if it is cost effective or not.
Unfortunately in Outlook it forwards the email you are looking at, rather than it being for find, quite annoying when it seems to be the standard in every other app.
So they talk about the "Ice-Skater Effect", even though they say that goes on "forever" wouldn't it wear off as buildings are rebuilt and new trees grow? What else is shifted closer to the center of the earth of any significant mass that they are aware of to come up with such a specific number?
The Australian government had made heaps of money selling off various spectrum in recent years to mobile phone carriers. I agree the US government obviously just wants to free it up so they can sell it.
The losing team should get tossed out of the plane (with parachutes of course), with the winners just getting flown straight home. Would make it a bit more dramatic for TV.
My Mum's place has pergola that uses the same principle as this, deciduous trees/grape vines near the house that provide shade in summer but let light in in winter. In addition to this large windows on on the north side with curtains to work as demachina explained (unfortunately not automated though) but in addition to this, the floor behind them is tiled so it can soak up any sunshine on winter days and continue to release the heat after the sun has gone down.
Made it though many winters comfortably without using any heaters.
I got a number last night and the lovely lady said to call or SMS, which ever suited me best. I plan on calling but I could just as easily SMS her and I haven't called before.
Almost need a challenge/response system.
I've had a few spamish SMSs but only from places that I have directly given my number to at this stage, phone provider, gym etc.
"Not now, but in the future, Mailblocks may permit third parties, such as advertisers, to furnish our members, through the Services and otherwise, with information from time to time."
iiNet http://ii.net use a similar plan for dial-up users, they have a soft cap which level changes depending in which plan you are on. Once you go over that level your traffic is given a lower priority. They used to have different end of months for different people but they found that confused some customers, so they just changed it to the calendar month for everyone.
The "Losing billions?" subject made me think, when they are asked how much they are losing because of the pirated copies in circulation and then them responding with an answer like "10 billion dollars". The next question should be "how much do you spend to make the software difficult to copy?" because it would most likely be a comparatively low amount. It's not unlike leaving your keys in your car in a bad neighbourhood quite often I imagine. Sure it is illegal for someone to steal your car, but if you have something of value, you should make it difficult for others to take it away from you.
When I used to play Red Alert 2, I remember almost literally every second player was Korean.
However I'm in Australia and the fact there is a reasonable ping time between Korea and Oz may have been a factor as I was less likely to play against people with a high ping time to me.
I think a lot of the fear is because it could have very easily been a lot worse than it turned out.
I liked what GameStation did last year :)

Nah; oxygen addiction is far worse. The withdrawal symptoms include death within minutes. Most people can survive a lack of food for days.
But breathe it long enough and you will die anyway...
So it seems because this machine isn't too "smart" it is ok for it to be prejudiced, that is, pre-judging you based on your appearance.
Is there a point where machines aren't allowed to be prejudiced?

American patent might not cover it but don't BBC also already do this for people inside/outside the UK?
Disappointing to hear...
What, use a proxy to make a post under his account that his friends follow? Yeah the cops will never be able to find him then...
The main problem I see would be that Google would be the most visited website, so you would fail at number 1 of 1000.
Microsoft Excel has a pretty strict definition of "average".
Funny how everyone say they could "log off" or "push a button", I know this is /. but don't forget they could just get up and walk away. :)
Haven't seen this mentioned so I thought I would add it:

Or get a solar pergola.

I find in word saving as RTF then using AceHTML and saving as results in pretty clean HTML.
Is your employer MS?

... and if those 5% of people can see your page properly but not your competitors who do you think is going to get the sale?
