There are plenty of games out there that are made by the lone programmer without the hassle of super-duper graphix. A good example of this would be avernum. 16-bit graphix but still addictive as hell. Beats any of the latest RPGs like Morrowind, Nevewinter Nights, etc. and has a shoestring budget.
Actually this is a pretty interesting question - he might have done something terrible, such as falsifying his results...But he's most likely going to learn quite a bit from this. It all depends on how you stand on the question of punishment and forgivenes.
It's a shame that what is possibly a brilliant mind will never get to work again (at least not in science:P).
And i was there to view it! Wohoo! I also happened to be on irc.homelien.no, the server of choice for most EFNet userfs...:P
Is it me or does IRC seem to be getting better?
Anything made by humans, can certainly be broken by humans. There is no way that the encryption will be 100% fault-free, as has been the case with any protection or encoding scheme ever made...
How would this work online? One of the sites said that it was only good against those old-fashioned credit card frauds where the magnetic strips can be faked...But how would that secure your online shopping? Otherwise, pretty cool for "bricks-and-mortar" shops and such, but I thought the real problems with encryption were the digital arenas.
No one cares about losers who hate microsoft. Get a life you fucktards.
Linux sucks, microsoft does not.
Don't you just love those anonymous Linux bashers?
The BBC (and indeed many other news agencies) have called the killings of innocent civilians "collateral damage", something which has been criticised tremendously. I believe the BBC has actually ammended their standpoint on the issue, and have chosen to refrain from using "collateral damage" when talking about such killings.
Exactly..there are many other great systems with less dice-rolling and fewer concrete rules (I am of course talking about GURPS). Even if the company dies, the RPG rules have already been created for others to play with.
It says that Linux users should expect about 500-1000 connections at any one time to be the max amount. This doesn't seem like a lot when thinking of websites that get a LOT of traffic and store all their website material in databases. Are the commercial DB's more capable?
medical staff can circumvent all your hard work and simply send patient data back & forth over the IM
Ever thought of the possibility of writing stuff down by hand on a PIECE OF PAPER perhaps? That seems like the easiest way to smuggle out information:)

There is a significant difference between a couple of people designing a craft for space flight and a couple of people designing a personal computer. Hopefully, the computer will not explode on start:P

How many phone calls are made to talk about nothing but trash...It's still a nifty invention..

Hmm..I'm surprised some "higher authority" hasn't decided to h@xxx0r the entire slashdot news site to remove such "sensitive" information :P
I use MSN Messenger, so there!
Yes Bush is quite the rocket scientist, I must say...What a world leader!

Unfortunately accepting the EULA *kinda* says that you HAVE read it (even if you haven't, you are legally accepting it).

So then anyone who could potentially be linked from slashdot should just change the entire technology supporting their site? Hehe, don't think so!
Hrmph..Is this really a limitation of mySQL or the hardware?

ah yes, a true anarchist....
I suppose you could have a vending machine-like input system where you actually drop the "cd" into the drive at a tilted angle.
