Personally, I'm tired of Steve Jobs and his crack team of Apple Uzi-brandishing S.W.A.T.-Ninjas crash through my bedroom window in the middle of the night, round up my children, tie up my wife and then force me at gunpoint to upgrade OS X every year.
Ok, so I'm not married and don't have kids. But my point still stands.
Some interesting GUI changes in that Spotlight window
the pop-up selectors are noticeably different than the rather bulky and ugly default can-change-them-on-webpages-with-CSS-for-your-life ones currently in Panther/Safari
The buttons and the bright blue title bar actually looks a little like Win XP . . . ack!
I really do hope Apple moves away from the watery-gooey aqua buttons.
They also need to find a better solution from those empty-white-ditch graphics they tack onto windows that don't have scrollbars. Gross.
Personally, I was looking forward to the announcement about the Finder's cute little "oh hey you double-clicked on a file so now I'm going to update the folder that's listed by date modified so what you thought you opened is something entirely different" bug.
Go watch the 'first five minutes' of Shrek2 on their site without sound and see if you have ANY idea what they're saying
Then watch it again and see if it matches up.
It barely does.
Also note that no one who saw it comments on the ingenuity or quality of the story.
I will agree that 'cartoony' humans haven't been done really well yet by anyone, including Pixar. (I find their human characters lacking also)
But, I'm expecting Pixar to hit a homerun in human animation with The Incredibles
Dreamworks/PDI is playing catch up with Pixar.
(and I also have to admit that their new 'world light renderer' technology doesn't sound nearly as impressive as the water effects in Nemo or the hair generator in Monsters)
I would argue that independents have VASTLY more talent and VASTLY better production.
A good majority of production you hear on major labels is auto-tuned to the point that the vocals on the recording don't necessarily represent the musicians actual voice.
I don't know how you can argue that production is somehow 'worse' on smaller labels. Equipment and software is cheaper than it's ever been and I think it's leveling the playing field to the point that a good indie album sounds just as good if not better than a higher production major label release.
Not to mention, old Zeppelin albums had crap production.
But really, why are you still buying their albums?
Are they still releasing them?!
It's because RIT puts profit, and corporate relationships far before The Student.
To try to combat the low graduating class numbers - they started letting more students in - and to make room they turned the brand new common areas/lounges in the dorms into . . . more dorms.
Kids go to class, and come back to their dorm.
There is NOTHING to do in between.
No social interaction, no relationship building.
There's no easy way to get to any entertainment unless you have a car.
Plus, Rochester is abolsutely miserable in the winter.
Not to mention the total under funding of the art school.
The art school is the biggest next to engineering yet get far, far less funding because it presents far fewer opportunities for corporate relationships.
etc etc
Oh well, I got my BFA and got out!

Kodak totally dropped the ball on digital photography.
They were really bad losers in that deal.
Their digital sector just turned a profit for the first time last year and are cutting 15,000 jobs.
My guess is since they couldn't compete . . . they're just stamping their feet and sending their lawyers into their patent library to look up something to sue with.
"Oh, wow. Turns out we own the patent for cameras using digital storage devices?"
Bremerton is home to the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard which often has several large ships at port for a few years for repairs and outfittings.
Which is where they think the 'disturbance' might have come from.

I think it's more like Microsoft settling with schools by sending them free software
. . . 4000 copies of Microsoft Bob
I completely agree.

Locals say you can develop film in the ole Geneseo River in Rocheser because Kodak and Xerox dumped so many chemicals into it.
