    Sorry, Perl fanboys, but Perl is dead. Not only has it been eclipsed in the web domain by PHP, J2EE, ASP.Net, Ruby on Rails, and others, but in the scripting domain it has been overtaken by Python.

    TIOBE Index seems to disagree: Java, C#, PHP, Python, Ruby all down.

    Perl right there at 9, same as it ever was: a good tool for people that want to get work done and not chase the hot flavor of the month.

    There's always been a non-violent resort: have the proprietor remove Elton John discs/records from the jukebox. If the regulars request it, the owner will be happy to make the regular, paying customers happy.

    No, but I heard he shared a local network connection with a Mac, and that infected him from all the previously-inactive malware piled up on OS X.

    This past year I only used 6 of the top 20. NXT-G was one of those.

    In previous years I've been up to 10 of the top 20, but that was contracting instead of working a "normal" job. Of course 5 of the top 20 I've NEVER used, but I've still got time before Ada drops off the list.

    But the brake-torquing fans are going to be pissed! :D

    And the motorsport fans, the fans that actually take their car out on the track for fun "lapping days". Or they were, several years ago, when Nissan introduced the "mash both the gas and brake and gas turns off" feature in their sportscars.

    But then all the Toyota acceleration madness started happening and Nissan started trumpeting brake override as common-sense and then it suddenly didn't sound like too terrible a feature.
