The guy who wrote "Girl in the Fireplace" and that other one with the stone angels that could kill you when you weren't looking. That's some classic who right there!
That Stone Angels episode - it was called Blink is some of the scariest TV I've ever seen. Definitely one of the best episodes.
I've been watching MI-5 using Netflix streaming. It's a great show and I love that I can get my fix instantly! Both seasons 1 and 2 are available to watch online. I'm on the $10/month plan so I'm very happy to see the limit eliminated.
That's because those wonderful EULAs make it impossible to sue the software developers. The parent's post is an example of flawed, uninformed PHB thinking.
Why shouldn't people have to pay more for treating their genetic disorders? If I'm predisposed to high blood pressure I can't go to the pharmacy and demand free meds. What do you think this is, France?:)
But back to the topic, why should unhealthy people be paying the same insurance rates as healthy people? Why am I subsidizing the health care of the sick?
I've found the best way to keep from having hand/wrist problems is to get regular exercise.
Mod parent up! Curls, tricep extensions, and especially wrist curls completely eliminate my wrist and elbow pain. I'm sure everything else helps, but arm exercises undo the damage I do my joints each week.
One issue that I've never seen discussed is whether it's possible to get these tests done anonymously, with the payment made in cash. Though spending a $1000 of my own money would be hard, I'd do it as long as the information could never get into the hands of any insurance company or future employer.
As long as you're using Windows and IE, Netflix's Watch Now offering is superb. It's worked 100% of the time for me. Though I'm no fan of DRM, Netflix took Microsoft's DRM and built something superb. If you want to see what it looks like, you can watch this video
What you describe is the setup I have but I've read on dsl reports that it's changing - Verizon is eliminating the CAT5 connection and will pipe everything (internet + TV) through coax to the Actiontec router (which is already capable of handling this). This is to reduce installation costs and reuse the existing cable tv wiring in people's homes.
My friends do that too. It's weird, we'll be talking about some random topic and the next thing they do is cut&paste the Gmail ad, because it's funny how it's related to our topic of conversation.
I never notice those ads but I seriously think that some portion of the population is constantly watching the G-ads.
They missed the best one: Ask Metafilter. The nice thing about it is that you have to pay $5 to join the site, which automatically eliminates 99% of the trolls and morons.
Usenet that is provied "free" by ISP's sux in a major way.
Umm... as long as you download what you want within 5-6 days, Verizon is absolutely awesome when it comes to Usenet. But of course I wouldn't know about that, because if I did I would never talk about it.
Drives that do both HD-DVD and Blu-Ray won't be allowed unless current licensing agreements change.
Hmmm... Samsung is planning to do a combo drive. I hope they release it. And I hope they outselll both Toshiba and Sony, which will of course never support both formats.
Jon never cracked any encryption, he was able to get the keys from poorly cooded software. Cracking modern encryption is unfeasible enough to make it nearly impossible.
Are you kidding? Everyone I know uses Gmail (or mail.google.com). I have two years of my life in there and I'd switch to cable in a heartbeat if Verizon cut me off.
The OTN installed at the customer's home can handle 655 Mbps, which is more than enough for several HDTV streams. There's no way that their TV service will ever interfere with even their fastest Internet package (30/5). Check out my account of the Verizon FiOS installation, I have links the hardware manufacturer's specs.
Though the cable might be able to handle 10 Gbps, the Optical Network Terminal (OTN) they install at your house can only handle 655 Mbps. At the risk of posting a link to my blog on Slashdot, you can check out my account of Verizon installing the hardware last week. I have links to the hardware manufacturer's specs.
I didn't enjoy Appleseed at all, the story was weak, and the CGI couldn't make up for it. Advent Children... well my buddy is a Final Fantasy fan and loved it, the rest of us hated it.
And now Fox is killing Arrested Development. Fox is like a kid with ADD, never giving some of its best shows the attention and marketing they need before dropping them and moving on to others projects.
The first thing you learn in a computer forensics course is to duplicate the hard drive and work on the backup. You never touch the original data. Nor do you execute the suspect's binaries.

Damn it, why hasn't anyone asked what the original two results were? Is it even possible to get that information anymore?
And so will these guys.

To be fair, those promises were made Motorola, not IBM.

Google doesn't use tapes for stuff they provide to the public. They have enough redudant disk capacity.

It's a defensive patent, they're not going after Blockbuster for licensing fees.

Thanks for the two recommendations, I didn't know where to start listening.
