Unless you want to see it dubbed, in which case you are stuck with buying the official release, especially since 99% of all anime you find on your local bittorrent site is subbed regardless (RARR GODDAMNED DUB-HATING HIPPIES!)
I mean, compare the PS2's graphics to Half-Life 2. Half Life 2 blows it away. Now, compare the PS2's graphics to the PC games of the time when the PS2's graphical capabilities were first revealed. PS2 blew the PCs of the time (the time in question being early 1999) away.
Of course, console gamers tend to not care about such things. If they did then they'd be playing PC games instead.
They are, to an extent- they just gave two free days of playtime (basically, delayed their next monthly charge by two days) to everyone who had an account to make up for the server outages. They did the same thing a couple of months back as well, I think.
There's always the conspiracy theory that EA doesn't really plan to make an AFL game, they just don't want anyone else to take the license and make an AFL game that is superior to Madden in every way aside from the lack of an NFL license that could potentially kick Madden's ass.
In Metroid Prime 2 Retro did a menu system that seemed to be designed to be navigated with an analog stick.
It sucked ass.
Dropping a digital pad is a bad, bad idea. You still need it for some things. As far as the A and B buttons are concerned, they'll just be changing the names for those, I'm sure.
As if EA wasn't enough of an evil, soul-sucking monstrosity.
Well, football fans, I hope you liked Madden 2005, because you're going to get that same game shoved down your throats with updated rosters for the next five years.
Sure, game retailers are all seeing big profits, but the people in the games industry that might be seeing less-than-average profits this year are the video game companies that are not Microsoft, Nintendo, Konami, Rockstar, Valve, or Blizzard- ie anyone who is not releasing one of the HUGE titles this season. Joe Average Buyer will be more drawn to the games that have been receiving ridiculous amounts of hype than the ones that haven't (but are still just as worthy of a buy.)
I'm curious as to whether or not Retro managed to make this game as sequence-breakable as its predecessors.
Prime contained a lot of ways to do things out of order to the point where it was possible to finish the game in a little over an hour (impressive given the fact that it's designed to be done in 7-15 or so). But then someone between them and the Nintendo higher-ups (I'd like to think it was Nintendo) ordered as many of these to be removed as possible in later (PAL, Japanese, NA Player's Choice) versions- for example, in the original it was possible to get to the Plasma beam room without the Spider Ball or the Grappling beam, but in the Player's Choice version there was a lock placed on the door to the room that went away when you got the grappling beam. I'm surprised you didn't get a picture of a middle finger when you scanned the thing.
Hopefully over time people will discover as many ways to sequence-break Prime 2 as they did Prime 1. At the very least it won't be as bad as Fusion in this regard.
Because when they were originally designed, they weren't supposed to be representing the creators, they were just these two guys. The two guys becoming Tycho and Gabe just kinda happened over time.
Excellent, Blizzard. I can see that you're almost done with this whole "World of Warcraft" thing. Well, as done as you can be with an MMORPG. I'm happy for you guys, really.
There are at least three versions of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for the Nintendo 64 in the US. The first is uncensored. The second version changed the music for the fire temple (which sounded a little too much like a religious chant, I guess) and changed the color of Ganon's blood from red to green. The third version changed the graphic of the mirror shield- again, the symbol had some sort of religious connotation. The new version sucked in comparison IMHO. And no, they haven't gotten better, because you know which version they used for the Gamecube port? That's right, the third one.
Correct me if you happen to be in the states, but I'm pretty sure that Power Bombs only break the Omega Pirate's armor in the European version. Metroid2002.com has a full list of the version differences.
Emma : It's not. In fact, something similar is already underway. Do you
know how many genes exist in an individual?
Raiden : About 30 to 40 thousand?
Emma : Right. That's what was announced at the turn of the century. But
there's actually 100 thousand, according to the original theory
advanced by the scientific community. Information regarding the
remaining 60 thousand was suppressed by the Patriots.
Raiden : No...?
Emma : Why? How would you know? Do you know what a gene looks like? Did
you count them yourself?
Raiden : There are research organizations...
Emma : Of course... and their reports have already been subtly altered. They're even beginning to believe the doctored reports. GW is a system that allows the Patriots to decide what will be recorded in tomorrow's history.
I've had to buy two PS1s. The first was a 1998 model. This model worked quite well (well, it had the overheating problem ONCE) until it died in April 2001. This is probably due to the fact that it was on the carpet at the time when Sony specifically warns that you're not supposed to put it there, something I read in the manual to the PSOne I purchased a couple of days later.
I recall hearing that Final Fantasy 8 killed a lot of older PS1s (probably first-gen ones), probably due the the fact that it pushed the system a lot harder than any other games had done before it. Xenosaga Episode 1's dual-layered disc required some people to replace their PS2s as well, I beleive.
And then, of course, there are Playstations and Playstation 2s that are purchased at launch and played extensively and still work today.
I'd say that it's part luck, part how well you take care of them, and part how many revisions later you buy them that determines how long a Sony system lasts.
Actually, if you've been paying attention to the last couple of Final Fantasies, they've been listening to fans re: summon lengths. The average length peaked in FF8. FF9 occasionally had long ones but usually gave you shorter (but less poweful) versions of the animatiions. And there's a menu option to shorten the lengths of FFX's aeon summons/overdrives and FFX-2's dressphere changes so that you only have to see the long versions the first time you use them.
As for as FMV goes, I wouldn't be surprised if the PS3 could render graphics that are good enough to make it so that Squeenix doesn't need to have pre-rendered FMV.
That's precisely what they thought about DVD back when the PS2 was coming around. Keep in mind that this was a time when only a handful of games couldn't fit on one 650 MB CD. In the early days a lot of PS2 games were on CDs, yes, but it didn't take too long for people to figure out how to use the extra few gigabyes.
Fixed.

Actually, for some groups the line is when the show is licensed, for others the line is when they actually start releasing the show in the US.

Precisely what the HELL was the guy(s) who modded this one up on, anyway?

I beleive that was Ken Griffey Jr Baseball for the SNES, in which Ken Griffey was the only actual MLB player on any team.
It sucked ass.

Actually, most theaters compensate for such a thing with free tickets, which this is the equivalent of.

EA needs to die.

They more specifically mean the spoiled rich college kids who have enough money for their parents to pay their whole way and then some.
So... Starcraft 2? Please?

Two steps forward, one step back.

DAMN THE PATRIOTS!
I fail to see how weight is a factor in any of this.
Well, 8-bit theater is a fan work, not an official one, so it probably wouldn't count.
