Totally agree on the GTAV multiplayer. It was horrible. I also thought the single-player was good, but there were some annoyances with the character switching. Like waking up drunk in your underwear as Trevor when switching to Trevor. Now I have to drive all the way to one of my properties to get some decent clothes. Also, I liked the idea of the mission planning and the ability for re-used henchmen to build up, but it was used so seldomly in the game that it didn't seem that important. (I think they'll probably try to sell big capers like that as DLC). I certainly won't be giving Rockstar any money for GTAV DLCs, but if they ever release another Red Dead Redemption, I'd buy that almost right away.
Awww, heck yeah. I just looked at my LotR2 box the other day and considered re-installing. (Also, whenever I'm feeling like playing in a game of the same mood, the original Mount & Blade is fantastic.)
I really liked the modern-day meta-story throughout all the previous AC's. I played all of the ones released for PS3. But I thought AC3 pretty much wrapped it up and I thought any attempt to keep it alive with another AC game would be just to trade on the Assassin's Creed brand. If AC4 was billed as just a "Pirate Game, from the maker's of Assassin's Creed" instead of an actual Assassin's Creed sequel, I would've probably bought it. But it seems like a desperate attempt to keep the franchise churning out money at the expense of ruining a neatly-wrapped story.
Reading about the recent massive costly battle in Eve Online got me to renew my subscription after a few years away from the game. If I couldn't re-activate my old characters, I would not have sunk back into it. At least I might get a little intimidation factor when someone clicks on my history to see I've been in the game for 7 years, even if I don't have the skills to back that up. http://www.wired.co.uk/news/ar...
But what am I playing the most recently? Tabletop games. Pandemic, Illuminati, Fortune & Glory, Lords of Waterdeep, etc. (Though I did buy Space Hulk on Steam after playing it tabletop)
Most of the recently-released PC games have left a sour taste. I loved Skyrim, but after 2 complete playthroughs (1 with all the official DLC expansions), and multiple half-playthrus I'm a little weary of it at 700+ hours. If Elder Scrolls Online was going to be like Skyrim, but with other human-playable characters in the same world, I'd pay all their silly little microtransactions and subscription fees. However, having played the Elder-ay Olls-Scray Online-ay beta, I can see that it's going to be a whopping turd. Not because of bugs or anything; It's just uninteresting cloned drivel. I'm seeing a lot of recommendations for some indie games in this thread and I'll probably be checking them out (Papers Please? FTL?).
I thought the new consoles would open up a lot of possibilities, and they may yet. However, I currently only have a single game for my PS4 (FIFA 14) and nothing else seems worth buying yet. Even FIFA 14 is barely worth it. I still think ProEvo's Master League is better than FIFA's, but I heard the gameplay on FIFA was going to be so much better. Meh. Plus, the leagues and licensing that EA can afford makes it a little better.
I loved the DA:O. 4 playthrus. DA:A, I was ok with. 2 Playthrus. DA:2 does seem "dumbed down" as you put it.
If it doesn't get better soon (in spite of it's horrible combat system), it's going in the "did not finish" pile.
When I played the demo, it did seem like button-mashing hack-n-slash. But I'm going to reserve further judgment until I get a few hours in. For now, it's sitting on my doorstep waiting for me to get home from work.
"1.000051(29) times the speed of light". Neutrinos? (from the wikipedia page).
I don't think it's totally ridiculous to assume that different particles with different magnetic moments were affected differently by the immense magnetic field of a magnetar. But if the Gamma, Xray, and radio waves arrive within seconds of each other, it's hard to imagine another particle could've made the trip 1.5 days quicker. But maybe that's just my lack of imagination and poor math skills.
I enjoy this sandwhich made at the deli down the street. I've enjoyed it for a while. I have a reasonable expectation that future sandwhiches will be of similar quality. I don't want them to go out of business.
I loved the map size on all the DF games for that exact reason. I'd spend 15 minutes circling behind before even seeing an enemy. And once you got a kill (or two), you could displace by a few hills and wait for them to come searching.
I'm not that familiar with the iPhone, but for my G1 there is a stargazing app that will show you a map of the stars for your location on earth (using GPS) depending on which direction and inclination you hold the phone (using some voodoo magic?).
I always thought that would make a fun aiming system. Sure, you'd have to stand and turn around to shoot behind you, but that seems like it would be very immersive. It might look a little strange to onlookers though.
Well said, except for the exceptions. I take freeway to work every morning and there is one exit ramp on the left side. The median between opposing directions widens and the ramp raises up and over the opposing traffic direction. The biggest problem it causes are the slow people who get in that left lane two miles early just because they see a sign announcing the exit.
Bringing this back on-topic, tailgaters are one of the biggest reasons you'll see the yo-yo in the left lane. Someone is going too slow in the hammer lane, someone else tries to push him go to faster by tailgating, the slow guy slows from 65 to 55, the tailgater slams his breaks, taking him to 45, the guy tailgating the tailgater slams HIS breaks, taking him to 35.
Just weighing in on this very therapeutic thread and arguing some cause-effect...
Wouldn't the original cause of the yo-yo'ing be the the ones who are going slow in the speed lane? The tailgaters are just the first ones affected by their disturbance of the system. They certainly exacerbate the problem by riding too close, but the obstacle is the slow-roller in the inappropriate lane, so they would be the reason for the yo-yo'ing.
Hmmm, that reminds me. Battlechess would be cool with more varied and detailed fight scenes. And since I'm horrible at chess, the game's logic probably wouldn't need much of an upgrade to keep trouncing me.
How boring are these short shuttle flights getting that they'd rather be sitting around watching DVDs. An extended ISS tour I could understand, but these shuttle flights don't happen that often and I believe it's still pretty competitive to get on board. If it were me, I'd probably spend that time floating around doing back-flips or other stuff I couldn't do on earth. Hell, if they let me take someone's spot on the next trip, I'll buy them a copy of the DVD. They can watch it all they want down here while I'm bouncing off the walls in orbit.
We use VMotion and our only noticeable downtime was due to self-induced implementation issues. I think there might be a slight slowdown during the actual vmotion, but for what we're doing, it wasn't noticeable. A game server might be a different story.
About a year ago, Oracle actually tried to sell us on Unbreakable Linux. Amazingly, they're selling strategy consisted mostly of saying that it's essentially the same as RedHat, though certified for Oracle.
Now, with the Sun purchase, I have to wonder whether they'll drop UL in favour of pushing Solaris & OpenSolaris

Look, good against remotes is one thing. Good against the living? That's something else.

It could be the lack of comments is because everyone is too busy playing DA2. (but I think your guess was closer to home)

Sure there's evidence. We now have one data point. I'll add it to the graph. You look for more.
If you squint and have a vivid imagination, they can never stop you.

Japan is violent? Really??
Ummm, ninjas !?!?!?
Democracy is the tyranny of the majority.
I have a hard time telling where "Americans" are from just by looking at them.

So you accept the 1997 remastered versions where Han shoots first?
