Divide the work into two week sessions. That way all the days are covered. One works two days gets two days off, works three days, gets two days off, works two days, than finally gets three days off. Every other weekend is a three day holiday and one never works more than three days without a day off. Forget about holidays because one will get half of them off anyway. When someone wants a vacation they could work 14 days straight than take 14 days off. This way, one only works half of the days and gets half of them off.
I do not care how fast or how much storage is available, I only care what the computer can do for me. In 30 years if I am still alive I expect to totally rely on a computer network for my security. I expect to go to bed in a totaly dark and quiet bedroom with a computer watching and notifing me of any problems it can not take care of which will be very little. I expect that none of my devices I own will be of any value to anyone else since they will only work for me unless I release them for another's use. Automobile will drive themselves so one will eat, sleep and be entertained while being driven. Work will be directed remotely so one will be able to be in India and yet work in the United States in a manufacturing plant. There will be very little need for transportation of people since every thing will be able to be done remotely even sex.
How can two objects be 13.7 billion light years away from each other when the universe is only 14 billion years old. My cable company(Charter) will use this as an excuse to raise my cable rates again. Someone has to pay these people more money for one show than alot of us make in 10 years. My cable rates have gone up 50 per cent in the last two years alone(from $30 to $45 a month). Alot of that money goes to expensive actor/actress and sports players. I will watch reruns of old shows until someone can stop these people from robbing us to the poor house.
I think the ultimate pupose of rfid tags is to make stores into wharehouses. The consumer will either shop at home or at the store using a computer. The consumer will pick his products and a automated robot will retrieve it. Robots will take the product off of the delivery truck and place it in the wharehouse/store too. A store will be able to do tens of thousand of dollars in sales everyday with very little paid employees. This will reduce the cost of business and will be passed on to the consumer by the power of competition. There will still be many products which need the assistance of an expert to purchase so that is where the jobs will be. When the product is in the hands of the consumer they will be able to easily discard or destroy the tag.

The unemployment rate is dropping because there is less people looking for work. How can we have less unemployement when there are less jobs now than there was in 2001? So why are there less people looking for work? Is it because so many people are discouraged because they can not find any decent jobs? Are more people retiring each year than are being added because of immigrants and our youth? Just come to western Michigan and discover how many jobs are going to foreign workers and have yet to be replace with any new jobs. How can anyone have a decent career when one has to start over with every recession in another career thus losing any benifits one has earned in the previous career.
Being a alcoholic is a disease and as in all diseases everyone should help in trying to prevent it. This idea is still wrong instead we should have a license to drink or even possess alcohol. Anyone with a dui conviction would be denied that license for five years for the first conviction. A alcoholic would have the option of voluntarily giving up the license and have the rest of the population help that person stay away from alcohol. The loss of income to the alcohol industry will make it very difficult to pass that law.
Signal a lane change and then get distracted and forget to shut the darn thing off. Than everyone ignores your signal since it been on for the last several minutes. A built in time limit of a minute for a turn signal would greatly help. I will not let someone who speeds in a lane that is about to end to get ahead of a couple of cars that had the common sense to move over earlier. I do not care if the car is signaling or not. Why can't we combine gps and wi-fi and have all cars notify all other cars around them of their position, speed and direction of travel. A computer could than determine if a collision is possible.
Who is going to pay $50 to analyse a $30 unit? There will be alot of unit thrown away that are operator error. Consumer simply does not understand how to setup or operate unit. DVD's have never been repaired locally. If they break during warranty they are sent back to the factory and replaced. If they are not in warranty than it is most likely that the cost of repair will exceed the cost of a new one. Do not buy a unit unless you are capable of transporting it yourself. If you have to pay someone to take it to a repair shop and back it will more than likely be not worth repair. So for repair workers the only hope is for people to buy more flat screen tv's(easy to transport and epensive enough to repair). Why can't they make tv's like computers. One should be able to replace with little effort the power supply or the motherboard and not have to worry about who manufactures it either.

When gps becomes cheaper I see the devices being able to broadcast their location so they can be located if anyone would be foolish enough to steal them. Now how many pc would it take to equal that and than caculate the cost of electricity for that amount of pc's. Now the question is "Is it better to contribute money to a cause so they can buy and maintain the supercomputers or to run one own computer?" Today it might be questionable but in a couple of years the supercomputers will difinitely be cheaper. Running a supercomputer would eliminate the redundancy problem which is 5 times at Gric.org(cancer and smallpox research).
Pilots are making over a $1000 an hour. Pilotless planes would reduce the cost of flying thus more people would fly and the net effect would be more employement. Would September 11 have occured if the planes were pilotless? I think it would have been much harder to gain control of the plane without a pilot. When one is dead one does not care if it was caused by pilot error or a programming error. It must be determined which will occur more. Can a computer sense it environment faster and better than a human and can it make adjustments for situations nobody ever contemplated?

At $5 a nic card 4 computers equal $25. This compares to about $50 for the router. What is the difference in electricity cost of running a computer than a router? Than the space required for a router is much less than a computer. Than there is the need to regularly reboot the computer. Router never need to be rebooted. Than add noise(at least 2 computer fans, hard drive and heat generated in the summer time so when everything is figured in the router for me is the way to go.
I think that if every car had a gps and a wi-fi connections than every car should know about all cars within 300 ft of them and their speed and direction of travel. I would think that with this information they could alert the driver of any possible collision and how to avoid them.
Money gives people incentive to work and better their existence. If everybody has money than who will do all the hard chores that need to be done(picking up garbage). What will be the incentive to become a doctor? If one can live comfortable without the hard work and expense of becoming a doctor who would than try to become a doctor. To make this work we would need a robot that looked like a human and could do everything a human can do. Than why would people reproduce if they could have a maintenance free child.
I expect a diskless computer with my ISP providing all the software I ever will need or want. I expect that my ISP will maitain and backup all my data. My ISP will communicate with all my electrical or electronic devices and make them inoperable if they are stolen. I will have sensors on every water,gas and electric cable which will sense flow and will report this to my computer which will know when these are needed and thus know if something is wrong. I will have camera in every room which will record and encrpt(even to me) a week worth of video(only if a person is present). A court order will be needed to view the video in case of anything ilegal going on in that room(break in). I will be able to ask my computer almost anything which it will look up on the internet to find the answer. I will have so much faith in my computer that I will build a window less and totally quiet bedroom where I will sleep and depend on my computer to notify me if anything goes wrong in my house(fire, gas leak, or break in).

A flow indicator on water,gas or electricity lines would tell the computer if there was flow on any particular line than if the computer knew by sensors on the users of that flow could determine if the flow was caused by a leak or short. The computer could either notify someone or take corrective action on it own. Automatic control of blinds by the need or lack of need of heat in that room. Automatic fans that would turn on if the outside temperature is less than the inside temperature and it is not raining . I could see a home with hundreds or thousands of sensors if they could be produce cheaply enough.
In my house of this millennium the computer will know if there is any flow of gas,water or electricity and know exactly where that flow is going to. It will have the means to shut down any of that flow if it can not determine a logical reason for it. The computer will be able to listen for both smoke and burglar alarms and will be able to colaborate the alarms with other sensors such as heat/motion detectors and microphones in every room. In my house I will be able to build a completely silent bedroom with the computer being able to keep me safe by notifing me of and problems.
I believe that there was planning for this to happen but that it was never implemented because it would have been vastly more expensive. Maybe they should always have two shuttles ready for flight before they even send one up. Once a shuttle is ready for flight is it more expensive to maitain? I do not believe that this mission should have occurred in the first place as I think that NASA should spend all their money on the ISS. I do not know why all the science that they acomplished could not have been accomplished on the ISS. Lastly if one does not learn from one's mistakes than one is bound to repeat them.
I would never use this product there are two more attractive alternatives that should be used instead. I think that with broadband and compression should make movie on demand better. No disk to make or throw away. Another is with the cost of removable hard drive getting lower I do not see why one could not purchase one and take it to the local video rental store and have a movie copied onto that hard drive. Software to prevent more copies and to limit the time of viewing could be circumvented but so could this new device.
Is this information needed now? If the space elevator is invented and there are plenty of people who think it will be invented, than what will the cost of finding this information? I think it would be a magnitude less and there would be less loss of human life too.
How about sensors that sense how much electric current in being used and compares that with how much should be used. All electric equipment would be smart enough to know how much it needs and communicate that to a computer. The same could be done with devices that use natural gas or even water. How about back up to fire and burglary alarms to eliminate alot of false alarms. There are many ways sensors could be used to help protect everyone safety.
