No, US, UK, France, China and Russia are pernament members of the security council which gives them veto rights. If a resolution is to be passed, these five members must all agree to it otherwise it doesn't happen. This gives them a great deal of power.
Tangent here, but the UN security council is overrepresented by "Western" countries. Honestly, what business do both the UK and France have on the security council? There are a number of countries that play a bigger role than (in particular) France. It seems that maybe it's time for a reorg. Take away the UK and France seats, give one seat to the EU instead, and anther to a different large country like India, Brazil, or Indonesia. A reorg has been done before - when they took the vote from Taiwaan and gave it to China.
Friday the 13th is supposedly when the Knights Templar were rounded up and arrested, in order to be tortured to death for daring to rival the church in stature and power.
I never understood how these things work: Do some lawyers wake up in the morning and decide, "Hey! I need a new pool. Hmmmm, I think I sue HP today. Now, let's find a reason.".
Actually, this particular lawyer is well known and respected in the state. He is a former Idaho Supreme court member, and also was a Democrat candidate for governor in '98.
And when the congress pulls and late nighter and the president flies back to the capital to quickly sign a bill allowing the government to barge past states rights and personal descisions it's discomforting.
Ok, I'll bite. States rights are non existent, and have been for some. Just last week the SC ruled that it's illegal for any state in the union to put to death a 17 year old who commits multiple premeditated murders. Try to have your state lower the drinking age to 19, or opt out of Social Security, or pass a law against abortion or (insert idea here). This cuts both ways politically. But unfortunately the different party wings only howl when it comes to an issue that they care about. The rest of the time they have no problem with the Feds imposing their will.
Lynda Carter is a bitch. I knew a guy that used to deliver pizza to her neighborhood. She handed out autographed pictures as TIPS. how full of yourself do you have to be...
Point taken, but her autographs are going for about $8.95 on ebay. Not a bad tip for a pizzaman. And I ought to know (see handle).:)
A similar example in US law might be Ashcroft v. Free Speech Coalition, where the SCOTUS ruled that child porn is illegal, but virtual child porn is not.
Wouldn't the local TV affiliates have to sign off on this plan? This system would not be of any benefit to the local affiliates, unless they were somehow able to incorporate regionally based advertisements.
The TV companies appear to not be so desperate to sue people into bankruptcy for watching an illicit episode of _Friends_ or _The OC_.
I can (unfortunately) tell you from personal experience that this is not the case. I about a year ago I received a cease and desist letter from Paramount after downloading an Enterprise episode via bittorrent. Granted, they didn't sue me. But they did scare me enough that I haven't used bittorrent since.
Actually, only twice as many.;) But most of 'em live in China, where as English is a 'business language', which is used around the world. Still, it would seem to make sense for Google to start in in on Mandarin for their second languages - if their search engine can handle the characters.
The fact is - whether for right or wrong - France has long kept a strong interest in preserving their language.
Given current demographic trends - in another 40 years there will be no French culture. The French in France aren't procreating enough to replace their population. The French in Quebec are becoming increasingly Anglicized. And here's a news flash: the French quarter of New Orleans isn't French anymore either. So seriously, why should Google waste their time on it from a business perspective?
What must be really depressing for her is that (as of this writing) HP's stock is up more than 11 percent in pre-market trading today. That's nearly a $7 billion increase in market cap - how depressing for her. She was worth negative $7 billion to HPQ's value.
Since she owns 852,912 shares of HPQ, she might not be terribly depressed.;)
One time I bought an item at a Idaho Walmart (6% tax) and returned it at a Washington Walmart (7% tax), and they gave me the extra. I made something like $0.40 on the transaction!!:)

The knights were executed by Philip IV, king of France. Not the Catholic church.
Does he have a mohawk? I pity the fool that messes with Mr. T-Rex.
Yeah, Beakman had a better hair do and his Lab assistant was hot.

They should include the The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins by Leonard Nimoy too. ;)
I get state sales tax (Idaho, 6%) on all iTunes downloads. Is this not typical of other states already?

Everyone knows Valinor was in New Zealand. Maybe when Mt Doom blew up, it spewed Smeagol's remains to Indonesia, and that's what thay found...
They're Germans, they could be descendants of Klink. ;)

Can anyone recommend a good free antivirus software?
Yes! Mod parent up! In addition, I would rather come across some annoying ads than a bunch of porn links that open more browser windows.

Another disgruntled Kerry supporter. Going to Canada is understandable, but leaving the galaxy?

Naw, he's got an army of evil monkeys to do those sorts of things for him.
He'll be 74 in 2029.. So he'll probably be alive.
His daughter will definitly still be alive since she's an elf.
Actually Good Friday falls on March 30 in 2029. Unless you happen to be on the Orthodox calander, in which case it falls on April 6.
