I am. Fair is fair, and using honeypots, fake.MP3 file ("Chirpers"), and bogus file servers are legit. In fact, these "new" techniques will be used to slow down piracy and catch people who are doing things that have been against the law for at least 100 years in this country.
In fact I'd say SIGGRAPH should become even more professional
Exactly my point! I see too many kids with blue hair and everything pierced walking around for me to take it seriously anymore. And whenever I show my face there, I get swarmed by kids trying to pass their resumes/demo reels to me! It's supposed to be a serious show for computer science professionals.
Anyway, I quit the ACM because:
They improperly disposed of a large number of lithium batteries several years ago (I called OSHA over this and they were held accountable.)
They are racist
They support piracy of digital media in their editorial columns, and come down against legal efforts to stem piracy.
I have ATT DSL "small business" service, and I use it to work at a remote location. My employer is a Big Media Company that helps write legislation like the DMCA, etc.
It's a business account--we pay for static IPs, etc--and there's a fair amount of traffic.
Several months ago, we got a letter saying (I forget the exact words) we had suspicious usage patterns and warned that we're not to be hosting file sharing services that may be violating copyright!
I had one of my company's laywers answer their letter, pointing out that the TOS has no limiations about bandwidth usage patterns, and a reminder that we care even more about copyright violations than they do.
I think ATT is just trying to cut costs here by screwing legit customers. I which we had a (reasonably priced) option at this location, but we get T1 performance in the direction we need at a fraction of the price.
Satellite TV makes so much sense, that I think the GOVERNMENT should launch a few, to give "local channels" to everybody in the United States.
This would create an industry of dishes and receivers that will make it profitable for other companies to offer premium services. (They already have multiple LNB dishes that can point to multiple satellite slots (provide they're close) at once.
If you weren't such a pansy cocksucking karama whore, you would have omitted the last paragraph:
Don't get me wrong. I like Apple products. I have owned my share of Macs and I will purchase more in the future. But I will believe little of the PR bull that comes out of Apple Computer Inc. and Steve Jobs.
...because we all know you can't criticize Apple on/. without being modded down!
You are a cocksucking bitch for having to backpedal like that.
...it's the fault of companies who don't realize the value of experienced programmers who can communicate well.
I think that there are many H1-B programmers who are contributing to the current software crisis with low-quality work. However their employers who are too cheap to hire the right folks for the job must bear the brunt of the blame.
How do you expect them to make a quality product if they can't earn a living selling it?
THIS IS NOT A TROLL. Please, if there's anyone on /. with any shred of intelligence left, MOD IT UP!
All she has to do is put a LIVE WEBCAM in her bedroom and charge $7.99 a minute.
(I LEARNED THE TRUTH AT 17, that Love was meant for Lesbians--on the internet)
It even got rid of the Ads on /. !

Post a link to it in /. and pretend you're disgusted with it!
It's even sadder that the stupid Mac-heads who frequent slashdot fell for your trick.
I hope you get modded down to hell.

...going to call their next Open Source Acrobat reader "Dmitri"

The ladies don't like their pop-ups. How does that affect me?
a troll?
The all sound like they get f*cked up the ass nightly.
I once saw a website with pictures of stuff like that.

Be careful what you wish for.
I think if you discover someone distribution your stuff on a p-p network, you should be able to take reasonable steps to prevent it.
In fact, last year, I removed my email address from my BUSINESS CARDS!
If someone wants to contact me, they can call my admin.
I say "You can behave and be like Monica, or you can disobey me and end up like Chandra, the choice is yours."
That usually sets them straight.
I'm a REAL EXTRA who took his test at the FCC. All you young whipper-snappers can suck my dick!
