ABYSMAL - a huge portion of Wiis are seen as literally "The Wii sport box" - it's pulled out at christmas as a replacement for monopoly.

They re-hashed all their old games (as usual) and the focus on the hardcore or real games by third parties was abysmal. Now they are high and dry, Android, iOS, Steam indie, X360 Arcade and PSN (plus PS Move and Kinect?) the Wii has utterly no market anymore, you can get your casual games anywhere.

Personally? I owned a Wii briefly, it gathered dust and I have no interest in them, sorry but in my case at least, Nintendo won't be missed.

Back then Norton utilities 6 was the absoloute bees knees, speedisk for DOS is still the most thorough defragger I know of, full with file reorder was the option, it ensured 0 files were fragmented and this was in the days that exceedingly few files on the disk were set as read only / system. It genuinely improved performance significantly.

Their tools were good for maybe 3 or 4 years more, possibly the first one or two Windows tools for 95 had some useful features lacking in the core OS but after that, what a shambles. To me, any machine with Norton utilities (Norton utilities NOT "Nortons utilities" while I'm at it) should pretty much be wiped clean :/

Holy ......... what a mess, or rather - what a ridiculously over-clean, sparse user interface. Minimalism for the sake of minimalism. No lines to define where one item begins and another ends, worse shading and use of colours to identify rows / columns / boxes / sections. The entire thing is designed by committee. The old one feels like it was designed by technical people with design skills. Now it feels it's designed by designers with technical lackeys to perform the work.

The entire thing is more difficult to use and slows people down, a complete step backwards.
Sorry for the language here but this picture I've made was designed for another forum. Including the file name.
    http://chattypics.com/files/newcalendarisfucked_4ynyf5yix1.jpg
I've outlined why the original one is better, it's designed logically and well themed, the colours match with gradients of light / dark depending on heading / menu / etc - there's simple, clean lines seperating items (which should be damned well seperated)
    Etc

User interfaces seem to be generally getting worse and worse, it's quite unfortunate.

Don't get me wrong, I love being all unique and internet awesome telling people "What's television" - I don't watch any free to air TV here in Australia at all, it's utter trash.

However thanks to the internet, I do watch some great shows, some old, some new. - I mean let's take a look here.
Breaking Bad - amazing television, really, really good TV show, funny, intelligent, thrilling and screwed up.
Arrested Development, ok yes it's old now but that is some incredibly clever writing, awesome humour and just an amazing show.
South Park, always on topic, very few lemon episodes, not just for kids or deranged people, often has a genuine message or makes a mockery of things others are too scared to
Mythbusters, this is slashdot, I shouldn't even have to explain
The Wire, also an old show but an incredibly good show, really, really good.
Venture Bros, it's crazy, it's different, it's a bit retarded but it's great fun
    Curb your Enthusiasm, just brilliant.
Dexter, beggining to weaken I hear but seasons 1-5 are pretty damn good TV. What self respecting /. poster can't empathise with a guy who can't fit in and doesn't understand many "social norms" !
Futurama, ok the return is weaker than the original but hell it's still worth it
Louie, great comedy / strange drama by Louis CK

So yes, it is cool to not like television. I mean I don't watch sport, I read more American news than Australian - I don't "watch" TV at all but I do consume quite a few TV shows which come from television.

802.11n I've delt with mostly 300mbit equipment, the highest sustained and consistent speed I've seen is 10MBytes/s across a large transfer, the average I would say is 5 or 6 but I have seen a sustained 10 multiple times. NEVER faster, ever! That's 80mbits per second.

On a 100mbit network, I've never seen a sustained speed of over 10 to 11MBytes/s, not the 12.5 it's theoretically capable of - so as nerds we all know about overhead. Wireless obviously is higher than wired.

That being said, it seems to me that the speed quotes are often a load of cobblers. 30gbit/s I'd be surprised if in the real world you saw more than 2 or 300MB/ytes per second sustained (if the disk is even capable)!

No seriously, plug the specs in to a calculator, the 3G/S screen is AWFUL.

I have 800x480 on my 4.3" screen and yes the iphone looks better at fine stuff but mine still looks fantastic and it's big, nice and big. If I was a public transport user, this is actually an acceptable size to catch simpsons or southpark etc on in the morning on my phone.

While I'm at it,........ the iphone has only ONE button, all the other buttons MUST be drawn on the damn screen. Options, back, etc - all on the main screen. You might be used to it but I've trained myself off it now, I think the one button philosophy is an utter joke. 4 buttons is not unmanagable in the slightest. This frees up even MORE real estate - and it's consistent (hello apple!) because I can find my options (menu) button in the same location /EVERY/ time.
