That is the most ignorant post I have seen in a long time, I can not believe it got modded up. Comparing thieves to working people...
In most cases a hacker is nothing more than a thief and criminal, the article is correct, they should not be glorified.
That being said, someone like "Timothy McGee" (NCIS), that occasionally needs to hack something to save a life, etc... is the kind of "hacker" that is OK to glorify.
These cut are a step in the right direction, But I would love to see them cut the size in half. I'm an American and do not like what we have been doing in the years since 9/11. That being said there are a lot of countries that rely on the U.S. to be their protectors and I am tired of that also. So many countries can afford to be prosperous because they don't need to spend much on military, let them fund their own military and we can spend our money here, where we need it. All our military is really doing is pissing the rest of the world off anyway.
That is similar to what I have been doing for years, I have a base password, then I add characters generated for the domain name using my own algorithm. Easy to figure out in a few seconds and every PW is different.
I posted that, it was an accident posting anonymously. You sure make a well thought out point...smh
Obviously there are "bad" people in all walks of life, including the police, but it is the vast minority. Generally speaking, people that have trouble with the police, have a reason they were involved with them in the first place. You didn't like how they handled your drug arrest?
There are so many thugs, punks, gang members etc. out there, the officers doesn't always have the luxury of assuming whoever they are dealing with is a "good guy", that might get him killed. If you live your life in a matter that doesn't attract police attention, most likely you will have no problem with them and respect them for what they do, you might try it sometime. I get pissed if/when I get a speeding ticket, but I am not really mad at the cop as much as myself.
To run browser(s)? If she is using web based email, then all her online actions are through Linux. I would think that would be more secure than Linux host/Windows guest. It doesn't necessarily need to be in seamless mode, but it might be more user friendly to her if it is.
You seemed to have missed this part of TFA, "I would love to switch her to Linux, but she struggles with change and wants to stay with Vista and MS Office."
Is it any better than Avast(free)? I have been using Avast for years and it seems to work quite well. Most if not all of the online reviews pick Avast over MSSE.
Not to turn this into a "why Linux isn't main stream" thread. But I see the 2 biggest road blocks for Linux adoption as lack of support for Gaming and MS Office. I know you can run them in wine/VM etc. But an easy installation, at least currently, of Office is needed. So many Schools and businesses require it. Also a lot of people who would love to run exclusive Linux, are also gamers. I had my wife running on Linux, but she would get Office files for her Girl-scout troop and School (she was in college at the time), and didn't want to alter the format by using Open Office. Now I think alternatives to MS Office, like Google Docs and Open Office are becoming much more accepted recently, so maybe that with more gaming support we're almost there!:)
Are you serious? The PS4 has nearly 2 teraflops of computational power. 1080P at 30FPS... a 5 year old Computer/video-card can do that.
Sounds like an offshoot of these guys .

I believe Bing comes with each copy
Being "godless" makes them smarter in my book, and since "hell" doesn't exist, I am fairly sure they aren't worried about that.
If you say so... Just sad seeing bigotry and ignorance where ever it appears.
Not sure "Anonymous Coward" has ever been more appropriate than for you...

I was thinking the same thing, I think about 1 cm sounds closer.

It seams to have similar characteristics to this banana!
Intellivision was the worst console ever.
Are you kidding, Intellivision was the the console to have in its day.
Avast only kind of requires registration. I always put in bogus name and email (dsda@sa.sds or something) and that's all that's needed.

I know not of this "Gravity" you speak of, but "Intelligent falling" is hard to predict.

That FSM just makes it look like it is 100 Millon years old...
LOL, I was just watching my Monty Python DVDs last week and saw that episode. Very Funny.
