What?? The manual for my computer said I shouldn't leave the computer in the sun, I shouldn't use water to clean it, I shouldn't make a small fire on top of it and not keep a huge magnet close to it. It said NOTHING about not feeding it with live animals! I'm off to court, I'm gonna sue their asses off!
Thanks to the copy restrictions, Apple has got the support of the big record labels. They think it's perfectly fine that you buy a song at the iTunes music store, and copy it to your iPod (any number of iPod's as a matter of fact. They wouldn't have been OK with this if you could use the iPod to copy the songs to your friend's computers.
Yes, I know there are ways, but the average Joe doesn't know about them. And that's what's most important.
So true. Think about it, you can listen to music almost no matter what you are doing, but watching video requires your attention. That's why portable video players never will be as big a hit as portable music players.
Also, the iPod runs pretty long on one charge. I think the specs say 8 or 9 hours, and that ain't very far from the truth with a new unit.
I love my iPod, I rarely leave home without it.
Yes, but at the same time it would be nice to see, say, all Apple computers lined up chonologically. But again, it would also be interesting to see all computers from a certain year.
They could put the machines chonologically, and then put up timelines with pictures of machines from differens manufacturers on some wall.
Very good point. Americans tend to like their vehicles BIG. I think something like this could be a hit i southern Europe, where the streets are filled with scooters.
They can make the top of the new Xbox flat, so that you can put the old one on top of it. On the other hand, most furniture designed to hold stereo/video equipment don't have an awful lot of space between the shelves.
I work as a programmer at a small development company, and three of my collegues say memory when they mean hard disk space. And one of them is a programmer. I mean, come on!
Wow, then the monkeys can use this with their feet. How 1337 is that?!
From the article we learn:
- Coca cola is running an ad campaign with nice prizes.
- The american soldiers drink coke.
I wonder how much Coca cola payed to get this stealth ad onto CNN. I mean, come on! They even write what the prizes are!!

Exactly, geez...
Do you have a REALLY small monitor?? You should upgrade, man! You could easily get like four times wider text!
:-)
The flatpanel iMac isn't fanless. It's got at least one fan.
It does say "a second threshold". Are you telling me a second isn't a time unit? Huh? Huh?
:-)
No, that patent is for double-pressing hardware buttons on a PDA. Seems like hardly anyone know this, since they don't RTFA.
Grandparent is talking about the task bar, you are talking about the system tray...
And a lot of people think they are still on that path.
Yes, this is true. One of the better things Microsoft has produced? :-)

Heard of IEEE 1394? That's the FireWire standard. Some companies call it FireWire, some call it iLink, some call it something else.
So until then it doesn't deserve to be mentioned or discussed on Slashdot? In that case, not many Slashdot-headlines qualify as news.

Ahh, Blues Brothers, what a movie!
You can get hosting for a lot less than $20 a month, but I guess that wasn't the point.
Until pobox.com goes out of business. With your own domain, all you have to do is move to another service provider.

Oh yeah, the monitor is the computer, and the computer case is the hard drive. Once you learn the language of the users, they aren't that stupid!
I switch my TV on when I feel like watching it, then switch it off again when I get bored with it. No point in keeping it running all day.
Yes, and SubEthaEdit isn't a communication tool, it's a text editor with multi-user support. Grandparent has got it all wrong!
