Thankfully when I was a BB admin I didn't see any of that. Messed up stuff that got people banned, yes, but nobody was stupid enough to post actual KP on the boards I managed.
I have a friend who worked in law enforcement in "cyber crime" though. Apparently that stuff is part of what he deals with, and you really can tell it takes a toll on a person. I doubt it's like most people imagine. Some people are so fucking depraved that normal people can't even fathom how bad they can be.
If they can do more of this, quicker: then it can take off. If they can do it with less overhead but charge relatively the same (or a bit less): then it can take off
Well shit. I've actually been looking for a Pebble replacement and this looks very nice. Figures that I'd find out in an announcement that they're also being killed by Fitbit. Better battery life too, damn
Anyone else know of a good alternative that ISN'T owned by Shitbit?
most consumers DON'T CARE about (much less ever THINK about) security.
No, most consumers don't think about IMPLEMENTING security. That's because they trust that the makers of their devices are smarter than them, and wouldn't make deliberate decisions that hurt security (like hardcoded admin logins). This is after people like me hammered in the idea that to be (more) secure on the internet, you need to use a router and not plug in directly.
It's in the same vein as trusting the person who makes your car that it won't cheat on emissions, accelerate without the pedal being pressed, etc etc.
In other words, a case of misplaced trust - or a vendor who violates said trust - not lack of caring...
I would have expected there might be some trademark issues between EA and these guys, especially since both seem to be related to gaming on PC's (and their logo's are somewhat similar in terms of being swirly circles).
Domain-wise, it looks like origin.com was first (Dec 1993 VS Apr 2009)
Because knowing the difference between a large, legit update and a mistake is the exact same thing as knowing money deposited in your account was an error ( though for that matter, $1000 could also be overlooked depending on what you have coming in via direct-deposit, e.g. a tax-return etc).
Great, so we can look forward to more great Amazon sellers like this guy. Don't worry though, Amazon will refund the money of the dozens of people affected (after an investigation and after your funds have been held up for possibly months depending on when you figure out the seller is fraudulent).
The best part is where they still need to "investigate" each case even though dozens of people have the same issue, and there's even a fricking Reddit thread about the scammy seller.
Well if it's anything like the last time a company suggested I send my device to the "nearest" service center,it was in another city on the other side of the country, soooooo....
While they do seem to be using that as a motto right now, LG doesn't really even stand for "Life's Good" but rather "Lucky-Goldstar", which is a combination of two brands which merged to form the company. Amusingly, while Goldstar sold electronics, Lucky was more commonly associated with detergents and hygiene products.
Bullshit. There are plenty of IT jobs that require specialised skills - and more importantly knowledge - the gotchya is that management rarely recognises them until they fire the wrong person and then shit blows up.
In cases like this the skills/knowledge are obviously somewhat important, otherwise what it there to teach your "replacement" or offer in the "contact firm"
Maybe if you're just missing a night flight arrival VS early the next morning, but getting bumped often can mean missing connections, missing events, paying for a hotel booking you don't use etc etc.
I've had flights delayed 2-3 and that was enough to f*** up my travel plans in some cases. Overbooking and bumping intentionally is just greed.
I will say one thing: it does appear that Nvidia's OpenGL performance is still better than AMD. Thankfully though most of the GL games I play also support Mantle.
The nice part: no more third-party kernel drivers. The AMDGPU driver is baked in and works nicely.
I had an older core-2 duo that I wanted to upgrade to a core-2 quad. Being an AMD guy in general I never even stopped to think that Intel wouldn't support the virtualisation extensions on the faster/newer chip, but *surprise* it wouldn't run my VM's properly.
You need to be *very* careful with model #'s when it comes to Intel and stuff like this.
There's a big difference between writing a book and contacting authorities. If I get fired for contacting the police/FBI/etc about a relevant matter, it's a lot different than getting fired for writing a tell-all book with what might contain company secrets.
Phones are often like cars, the value of the parts meets or exceeds that of the whole. Even if they can't use the phone itself, they now have a working LCD/digitizer (often $150-$300 value for newer phones), battery, buttons, speaker, etc etc.
Yeah, but people said the same about Wheeler, and he actually turned out all right. Might be luck, but who knows, as I'm not really sure any sheriff wants to be in charge of a police station with no guns.

On the flip, some people are *very* good at riding on the shoulders of others.
"Security is our #1 Priority"
(until the next scandal, when something else becomes #1)

4k seems to be a bit overkill for a 17" or less monitor. A 2k widescreen resolution would probably be nice.
Yeah... so many good names.
Westwood studios was another good one.

Well, if you want a widely fluctuating traditional/fiat currency, you could always move to Canada (or bank in Canadian dollars)

Not until it gets an app (or at least a mobile page). You probably should be hiring 16-yr-olds - particularly ones that look 12 - for either though.
I hope they caught both the pimps and the john in this case.
Who needs a front when you can make all that profit selling to both advertisers and intelligence agencies as a business?

I was thinking more that once infected, their products are pretty much less useful/valuable than a package of arse-wipe tissue.

But don't allow the posts to block or censor comments... that should make for fun times.
