Dont get me wrong, i have a dreamcast and run netbsd with it. however the xbox live service depends on unmodified consoles to prove that players dont cheat, and becouse of that requirement mod chips are not allowed, becouse it then becomes an uncontrolled enviroment. Yeah.... seems like a real niche market to me...

And im sorry if there are people willing to pay for broadband and cannot get it, thats a act of life, the point is there is just too much data going back and forth for any type of analog connection to hold and carry it all. Piss moan and bitch all you want, i can already tell it was just a "MS is evil" post to begin with. And im sorry to say its not only microsoft with there console gaming system doing yet, Sony has a ethernet/modem adapter, yes it has a dialup modem in it, but all the games i played dont support it, and only support the broadband adapter part becouse of the need for bandwith.

If you actually got a USB DSL or Cable modem, you deserve your fate.

The games dont work with Dialup, like aol or 56k and hell, even ISDN is pushing it. at times you have 2 or three peoples voices being pushed down the line and have 20 players onscreen all needing bandwith without delay.

And before you bitch about microsoft, i also play ps2 games online, not nearly as much of a choice, but they also require broadband.

Its not as much of a niche market as you seem to think, if you have the extra cash to pay for xbox games online, you peobably already have the cash and the technical knowhow to have dsl or cable, and have it with a NAT applience or something equal to it. if your a cheap bastard and only have your aol dialup, your not going to spend the cash on xbox live.

Jesus fine you hate microsoft, but when you people bitch about shit when you never even took any time to research it, you just come off as uneducated assholes who like to splurt a never ending fountain of bullshit about a product youve never even taken a glance at.

And you forgot to mention racing games, which btw are lacking on PC's and are VERY good on gaming systems, which have a MASSIVE following who would LOVE to play them online.
