I'd almost welcome a BSA audit - it'd be fun to yell "IN YOUR FACE!!!" every time they get snippety.
I'm not sure BSA audits are legal, BSA is a private company who has no right to even look at my screen, at least in france.
What's the matter with running "obsolete" distros when they're opensource ?
I'm still running linuxppc/2000. it works as fine as before and is often upgraded.
you don't have to reinstall a box running linux to upgrade it, you know.
First, I've never heard of police cars being equipped with live OCR equipment.
I heard about police cars equipped with policemen (equipped with eyes), though. Eyes usually do a pretty good job as OCR devices.

I do want spammers to continue forging headers. They do so in a really stupid manner which allows Spamassassin to directly trash all of the forged-headers spam.
Now, does it
look like java to you ? They even tell it's not portable.
You can also download their SDK, it comes with documentation afaik, have a look at it.
Who still cares about speed with 1GHz+ processors ?
400MHz is fast enough for me, only people dealing with synthetic images need the fastest...
I mean what difference does it if your filter applies in 6 seconds instead of 3 ?
Too bad they stopped shipping ATIs in their laptops. Not that i prefer ati or anything, but opensource accelerated drivers exist for ATIs. Not for nvidia. I mailed them (nvidia) about this, and got an answer stating that I'd have to stick with XFree's 'nv' (non-accelerated) driver.
I'm wondering it using phosphorescent paint (the same as there is on old watches) to draw the letters on the keys wouldn't be better. In case of a laptop, phosphorence would be kept by the light provided by the screen.
As a side-effect it wouldn't suck battery down;)
if it goes the "non-modded is Non-derrivative" way, then M$ et al can pile in GNU stuff at will as the foundation of proprietary OS / Software
That's what Apple did for macOS X. They include lots of OSS like samba, apache, sshd (I know the last two aren't GPL, but they're opensource).
Is this only because it's Apple and not Microsoft that noone complains about it ?
I would swap the good old Cherry keyboard I use since 10 years with any modern keyboards:) This keyboard is really comfortable to type with - and doesn't move when you type, contrary to modern full-plastic ones.
Well, that's just another FPS released, quite not the kind of games that are lacking for opensource OSes...
That's still nice from 3DRealms to do it, but i'm personnaly more impatient to see wipeoutXL GPL'ed.
IANAL, but I've never heard of any law that forces you to help someone.
In France there's kind of one; you can get sued for "non-assistance à personne en danger" (approx "not providing assistance to someone needing it").
That is (afaik), if you witness a car accident or something, you at least have to call the police. I don't think you are forced to go rescue someone yourself, though (ie you don't have to put yourself in danger for someone else).

See this article (in french, sorry) for example.
RTFA, that's not mplayer developers who don't want to distribute binaries, that's debian.

powerpc, not ARM :)
,500mW @ 380 MHz, 1.8V.
According to this
CDRom backups should be safe.

That would be useless - FVWM95 already exists :)

Have a look also at this site , "Galeries" section for example.
The text is in french, but the, er, important things are the pictures anyway.

A computer does not come to work drunk
Neither do surgeons, actually.
That's harder to sell the drive after this, though.
Wow...kicks ass to be using iTunes...
Using xmms or mplayer on linux/ppc is actually enough to be safe.

I wonder how an ssh private key would get _in clear_ in the padding of a packet.
Do you really know any stupid enough people to ftp a private key ?
Linux has some drawbacks (FONTS!)
About this particular problem, i installed some redhat 8 last month and font support is really better than before.
Of course not for free, how do you want companies to interest themselves in opensource if they can't benefit from it ?

Why would they get sued ? That's just an interface to dlls, and they don't provide the dlls of course. Oh, btw, they're not in the US.
With most DVDs you're now forced to watch 2+ minutes of INTERPOL and FBI warnings before getting to a chapter index on a standard player
:)
These are volunteer hardware/software limitations, btw. Software open-source DVD players let you skip them easily
