You should never depend on a single point of failure.
Only pirates depend on points of failure;-)
I think you meant You should never depend on a single layer of protection. Multiple (and redundant, if possible) protections are less likely to fail at the same time.
OTOH, multiple points of failure are no better than a single point of failure...
I have php3 and php4 installed on a server. I think you can do that with php5 too. Of course, Apache should have a way to differentiate scripts versions; here *.php3 are handled py php3, *.php is for php4. You'd have to use.php5 or something...
That wouldn't work for most people, because, contrary to what's stated on the 28-hour day website, people still to be diurnal. Living at night is depressing for most people (and this is for physical reasons you'll have a hard time fighting).
As far as I've read, Linux can be run on iBooks but the hardware support is seriously lacking, which disables some important functions like power saving...
This now works with a patch from BenH, probably going into 2.6.11 (not a typo).
I doubt that Apple has yet documents available on controlling G5's fan system, enabling driver writing?
If I buy the Star Wars Trilogy DVD for my fiance for Christmas and it is three DVDs with a 30 minute unskippable intro you can bet your ass that I'm storing the originals and ripping out the crap and reburning to a DVDr.
I got them for my birthday, there are no commercials on them (at least not the Zone 2 DVDs sold in france).
They send requests via IRC, and the zombies are connected to some channel to listen for orders. This makes it difficult to know where the requests come from.
Subject: WHAT MEMO? Re: COULD YOU SEND ME THAT MEMO
The original sender will just get as confused as you, and may understand the use of the Body field. Probably not on the first time, but it works on the long term...
Incidentally, Sylpheed-Claws win32 maintainer has just returned after a long period of inactivity (or rather, real-life activity), and has released the win32 version of sylpheed-claws 0.9.13 just yesterday, a few hours after the regular 0.9.13 version.
They're designing stuff that recognizes gunshots. They probably didn't think people would try to shoot them...
And the fact that they're doing that using some sort of neural network is a nice indicator that they're dumber than Anonymous Coward and didn't even think of it!
Take the number of phones in the field, (A), and multiply it by the probable rate of failure, (B), then multiply the result by the average out-of-court settlement, (C). A times B times C equals X...
If X is less than the cost of a recall, we don't do one.

(Apple appears to be copying the PC market)
I think you deserve a +5, Insightful. Or maybe +5, Funny...
So, $249 was a bit of wishful thinking in Bob's part... ;)
I don't know about US, but in France it's forbidden (by commerce laws) to sell at a loss...
Do you really trust the NSA to help you (completely) secure your computer ? ;)
What kind of rumors about Microsoft could one start?

Longhorn to be delayed again.
New security hole in Internet Explorer to be unveiled next week.
and so on

MD5s are to check against random network-induced corruption. To check that you are downloading what you think you are, you use PGP signatures.
And, how about releasing specs?
Or rather "fonctionner" - "ne fonctionne pas". "marcher" in this context is quite familiar.
The dinosaur extinction was rather 65 millions years ago, rather than 50.000.

Does anyone understand that these are brain to computer interfaces.
Of course, but that's less funny this way!
Made a bit of research: look there for an example of IRC-controlled zombie.
they DDOS the box that sent the request
They send requests via IRC, and the zombies are connected to some channel to listen for orders. This makes it difficult to know where the requests come from.
Easy solution:

It'd sure be nice though...
