I love my toshiba, a p4 1.7 and yeah the speed steep can be adjusted in the control panel, but I found a permenent fix, I now run linux on it, don't see a speed step option.... YEAH!
Great idea, diasy chain an extra access point or two in the new building and roam around with your SpectraLink phones (or your Ipaq with Cisco Aironet wireless card) and register with your Cisco CallManager cluster at HQ, hell I bet I could quote you at about 400,000$ (your pension to mine!) In all seriousness, has anyone used a SpectraLink phone off an Avaya? I have used a couple wireless phones off a Cisco system (including the Ipaq which seemed to need a little side tone adjustment) and I was surprised how well it worked.
Of course, "I", also known by "W1r3sp33d", and for the length of this post as "me" including the form of "my", did not mean to infer in my ealier post that the person or persons linked to by slashdot.org also known as "/." as a part of OSDN, were of any particular gender, nor did I fully describe who I was referring to, being the person representitive of "SearchKing" or the person or persons directed in the carrying and or transport of this message from its point of origin to the law firm and or lawyers therein. Furthermore I did not intend to insult any gender challenged persons reading this or my previous post by not including them in the "he" "she" "we" list. I most certainly did not mean to cause any unrest or disturbance amoung any duck-billed platipi, nor is it my wish to get the animators "sacked." In conclusion, I can only hope that if you do not find this amusing you are not a lawyer (which I generally don't find amusing) that is willing to file a class action lawsuit against me for not mentioning my inspirations for this post as (in, of course, no particular order): Monty Python, Kevin Smith, View Ascew Productions, Dude Where is my Car, the "sanctions" Microsoft is now imposing on PR firms, Underworld, and DEVELOPERS, DEVELOPERS, DEVELOPERS, DEVELOPERS! (and of course everyone I forgot and Everything Everything else, cheers!)
I would bet that he wasn't, maybe the lawyer was.... "Yeah! you definetly have a case here! Probably won't even make it to court, we'll retire rich!" blah blah blah gag.
What about Dell Boy and Ellen for couple of the year? He seems a little coked up and she is most certainly enhanced in some way.... nevermind, what if they produced offspring! DUDE!... it was... a... bummer....
Too funny! I am going to assume that Bill is actually in charge of the Country of Microsoft since "Give it up for me" could be considered a call to worship which would make Ballmer a religious figure. So in the separation of church vs state arguement I would have to think that Mr. Gates would be implementing the sanctions against the PR firm. I wonder why they take turns using CEO when really it could be something like Czar and Pope? No sorry assed half witted responses neccessary to correct my obvious summations of separate goverments, legal loopholes, and nasty spelling errors, instead please take the time to really bask in the absurdity of the parent (besides that will make me look smarter too!)
Yeah, sat through too many hours of meetings with accountants today, come home and here is an article about accountants and Ballmer (like shooting fish in a barrel) of course you could have played the other angle of "what other competition do they have?" another great argument against my "great" (thanks) generalization. To be honest I was just shooting for a first post! Cheers
sure they get it, but after almost ten years of windooze they can nearly reboot their pc's without a call to the helpdesk, I don't see them as a "switch" market, rather a sit around and talk about something new and not do anything about it market. Of course I would not be speaking to any of them reading this post...
then the question is "Why hasn't Microsoft taken a little time to fix the 640k problem?" but before they can speak you need to add "no that ISN'T a fix!" Cheers!
why would anyone quit gaming?

I played pong when it was bleeding edge technology, why wouldn't I be excited about the great advances in games over the last several years or be looking forward to some of the new games coming out in 2003? I am part of a generation of kids who have had every system between the Atari 2600 and the Xbox, I would think that our consumer dollars would be very strong in this market. I just don't understand this being a surprise to anyone.
This is awesome, I am going to the office in waders and I am going to start packing in mud, pipes, and oil through the new HR department!
I am going to get away with it because I will link this article in an email to engineering discussing how this will avoid the plenum/firecode problem with UTP. I will send a second email to accounting discussing the massive ROI on using mud over expensive cabling projects.
The the only part that will be better than watching their email open for two hours will be watching them cry about having to process my raise and promotion! This is the first Monday I have looked forward to in a LONG time, THANKS/.!
I don't see a picture of the Cat's after being tricked out, so how about it? There is plenty of room for some lights, lasers, an internal smoke machines, some water pumps for cooling the Sup's, hell maybe even one of those flippy tongue cdroms from the gateway commercial! (or am I confusing this with the "upgrade" UUnet was attempting on their Junipers last week.....)
I will know that my box and firewall are both inadequate when I find a stack of test pages falling onto the floor... OK, now I am running CUPS, you can shorten the *nix by one.
I told the NOC boys that sending those BGP tables to dev/null on the Juniper's would be a good idea since they were starting to take up too much disk space... (too many MCSE's in here anyway!)
Now with a few keystrokes I will finish reclaiming their diskspace and deleting their accounts... there we go, and now I am off to "get a cup of coffee" and gather their office toys while they are being escorted out of the building. They won't interupt me from grepping emails again.
In the spirit of my mentor, BOFH.
Actually I am with you 100% (and thanks for not blasting at my spelling error) I wouldn't have feared Gore being "guided" into doing the best thing for "Americans" by the people I don't trust. Since its Bush's show I am going to go buy MS stock in a hurry, who else was on that technology panel?
personally I love the DNS name registration graph on the page before it, can you believe that "cyberspace" has grown almost 100% since 1991! What a load! Here is my question where would you register your IPv4 FQDN for the internet while on a dial-up BB with your c64? I'll give them one thing they are awefully SCARY looking graphs! Just the kind of thing you would need to create an emergency requiring new and drastic legislation!
"i'm a Microsoft(tm) user, could i use... " Let's see; lower case on all three i's (pulling away from your own identity?), got both the capital on the "M" and the (tm) to show proper respect and willie worship, yep good m$ user. No Linux for you, sorry you have been assimilated... In all seriousness my life has been better since I converted (at least I sleep well now...), I did RedHat 7.3 last time around and I find it an acceptable alternative 99% of my workday.
"At best, it is a mildly funny fantasy story..." Am I the only person who laughed so hard the first time I read it that I had to clear my eyes and start breathing again so I could continue on? It's a journey, the "climax" of these stories are generally unimportant (yes the answer to...Everything is unimportant!), it is the story that is relevant, that's why a cliff's notes would be useless. With time jokes about digital watches loose their luster but the commentary on man's struggle with time and mortality is timeless, the satire is needed to stomach it. I just wish that everyone got everything out of these books that I did, it was well worth the time.
Look at the hobbits in LoTR, the actors real size no longer matters when it comes to casting a movie, to bad they didn't have it figured out in time for TPM Anakin and Padme...

I can find FIVE different icons of them incase you find one!!!http://www.iconbazaar.com/computer/pg04.html
Did you think you could get a set of questions from /. without seeing things like:
-Imagine a Beowulf cluster of Dan's!
-Someone asking if your answers could fit in 640k.
-Why you would mod this parent down?
-Why don't you get a Cowboy Neal option for idiotic questions/readers?
I would have thrown in the vi vs. emacs but it really is someone's question... Thanks!
