I for one have wanted a Wii for quite some time. It just looks fun! However my impulse to buy has faded over the year+ that I've actually been looking to get one. If I have to wait wait much longer I'm plain not getting it. The PS3 and the Xbox are becoming far closer to the price of the Wii. While I won't buy M$, most people will, including grandpas and grandmas who don't know Mario from Halo.
Many households won't buy two systems. Nintendo has self-limited themselves from a bigger piece of the gamesystem pie, which Sony and MS will happily lay claim to.
Actually, I've been on a personal boycott of big label music for years. I ripped a whole section of music from my life thanks to the RIAA.
And while I have Metallica on cassette, I refuse to buy any of their cd's either.
I still haven't bought that Radiohead album, but I intend on doing that - just out of principle, not out of being a fan of Radiohead's music.
Hear, hear.
Somwhere in the middle of book eight when I read about one more time someone knowingly shared the ways of [wo]men or some character was [angered|bewildered] by so and so stomping off angrily, so confused because [wo]men were so illogical i beat myself on the head with the book screaming "no mas!" until i passed out, just so i wouldn't have to read it anymore.
when i woke up i tossed the devil book out the window.
"According to research conducted by Wipro and GCR Custom Research, total cost of ownership for Windows XP is $4,407 annually, while Vista's cost is $3,802. "
My dad gave me his old laptop with XP preinstalled. Does that mean I owe him $3,802?

Really though, four grand even buying some super quad core machine, getting Win[V|XP], Office[pick your poison], shouldn't cost near that amount.
It's not just that it's cheaper than BluRay. It's that it's reached the flashpoint for affordability for the average person - not just early adopters and techgeeks. Cheapest HD-DVD now $200. Cheapest BluRay now $400.
Sony's going to be doubly stupid if they allow those prices to roll through holiday season. Even $300 is too high comparatively.
I wonder what other dinosaurs would be prey for the Utah raptor... as vicious as they may be, I'd imagine some might be still too big for them (except maybe calves)
How did this score as 4/Informative?
Was it summarizing how signal travels from amp to the human ear?
Was it sharing the secret of how to bypass the speaker altogether (hint, don't try this at home)?
Or was it mentioning how a $20 pill makes music sound better and more danceable?
Mmm... $20 pill...
I use Verizon and was looking for this too. I remember reading somewhere in the docs that "there are no current plans". Sorry man. At least I can switch to T-Mobile
Dude. It was an LED blinky in the shape of a star.
I don't blame them for reacting, glad they did, but now that it is an obvious misunderstanding, they should drop the charges.
On the morning of 9/11, one of my neighbors asked the superintendent if we should evacuate the building. Mind you, it's a 5 story building nestled between train tracks, where the closest business to it is a garbage way station.
When the news first broke I thought it was a callous prank. But as the details unfolded, I had a completely different picture. It's a 19 year old girl, who made a blinky star to put on her hoodie. I'm sure Star was very pleased with it. The back of her hoodie said "Socket to me". It sounds perfectly normal to me, especially for an MIT kid. And to someone like her, the breadboard probably looks completely innocuous. What's amusing to me is when they questioned her about the playdo, "she didn't have a good answer".
Come on now. Think of all the things you did for no reason at 19!
As someone who's been in Japan, that is categorically false. People in Tokyo love their gadgets. From what I've seen it's even more sheik to have the latest phones there than here. Perhaps that's the reason. I agree we Americans are generally content to feed on whatever crappy pricing corporations feed us. For example, Verizon's "rent-a-ringtone" plan.
That's the point. SCO didn't even bother clicking on the link to contact her. Further they made posts public making it seem like they had been actively trying to contact her.
"Obviously aware of SCO's designs to depose her, Ms. Jones has neither accepted service of the subpeona
nor agreed for deposition, but rather appears to have fled and evaded service of the subpeona. "
I'd be annoyed as well.
It's hardly comforting to hear that the ancients used compounds that happen to qualify as nanocrystals.
Making hair dyes out of plants is really not quite the same as researching DNA manipulation.
Not to mention, that this "nanotechnology" commonly uses lead compounds, which last I remember is highly toxic.
So upstate also depends on the new yorker you're talking to.
Someone from from ossining will say they're from the city whereas someone from manhattan will say that person's from upstate.
i especially like how people tell me they're from the city and in the same breath tell me about the deer who hang out in their backyard...
Contrary to your belief: this kind of thing is NOT restricted to the poorest of the poor districts. At the school my girlfriend worked at last year the elementary school didn't even have a library. At the high school my father works at, and the school my mother teaches at, conditions are similar. My coworker sends his kids to private school because the school in their hometown had neither a library nor a gym - not to mention an athletics program. It's a matter of urban public schools not getting the proper funding. Which is not to say that schools who can, by however means, shouldn't participate in the program if they can. Nor should kids who participate in the program feel guilty for being privileged...

I'm 99% sure that joke got old around book 3 :)

Funny, the least interesting part about this post is Verizon...
... except that this discussion is in the context of a lottery, in which order basically doesn't matter

I had a sudden image of the Matrix, except with cows floating in pods instead of humans... And then the daydreaming went all downhill from there! :)

Doughnuts. *drum roll+cymbal*
If it were a prank, I'd agree. Bad judgement, I'd agree. Intentional, I disagree. Just a college girl going to pick up her boyfriend from the airport.

Although from the thread they agree, Ingo != Linus

As I surf mythtv.org I can see it slowly being slashdotted into oblivion...
