Whats really needed is proper virtual desktop support, or some more real desktop innovation (sun lookingglass looks nice).

Something I'd like to see to help save screen real estate is something like X11's virtual desktop resolution feature, where you can scroll around the real resolution while only displaying a smaller chunk of it -- But modify that concept -- Instead, I'd like to see the entire desktop displayed at like, 50% zoom. Now have maybe 800x600 or whatever around your cursor be zoomed to 100%. That way people that are stuck with 1024x max rez can escape a LOT of desktop clutter/overlap. From what I know of the apple os x PDF stuff, It would be pretty easy for them to do.

I somewhat disagree, amazons anticompetitive behavior is great for the consumer. I was searching for a movie (Waking Life) and due to a deal with borders, I was able to reserve a copy of the movie at any of the local borders stores (with addresses listed, along with how far away it is).

These kind of features are what makes amazon successful, sure we'd be better off with an open system so prices stay competitive, but until someone (pricewatch? pricegrabber? froogle?) steps up and opens up a system that actually has the whole process bundled in one easy to use page, don't expect amazon to stop dominating any time soon.

As for income growth, as I become more useful(generally adapt to the enviroment), my income can double or tripple over a few years. As for job stability.. maybe I should stop posting to slashdot when I should be working.

Having a job like this puts my foot in the door for future jobs, in addition to all the experience and training I'm getting (I've spent most of today playing with junipers for example). While I am obviously starting with a lower sallary than most(even due to the lack of schooling), I still got a 'good' job where I can work with things I enjoy, and have a real decent future in it.
