you know, the sig is at the END of a post for a reason. if it was in the begining, it would still be like descriminating someone because he is/isn't a geek. hogwash.
You say that like it's a bad thing. The only thing that keeps DRM off our backs is the infighting between all the different interests that disregard what the public wants: the end of that crap. It's either that or a bloody revolution further down the line.
what do you know... someone has made a Network Manager to handle having a connection always working, and he just included WPA. in fact, someone has already made packages for Dapper and the app will be there when Ubuntu is released. yes, it took this long. but it works, i ain't switching:)
well, if you had my 512kb with p2p slowed down connection, you wouldn' complain:P with all the seeds galactica has, it might not be a problem if you let it pick up some speed. it takes a while, either way.
It's weird that i saw that episode broadcast very recently in my small country Portugal. It was on cable, but it was not at prime time, it was a bit after Sunday lunch, in fact, around 2pm. And absolutely no one spoke of it. You americans care too much about this, but then, since i heard the nipple story at the super bowl, i don't find that hard to believe at all.
haven't looked at the list yet. What i want to say is that there's a very important game out today. Galactic Civilizations 2, Civ in space. Not just a clone, the first one was pretty different and is a mix of Civ and 4X games. The second one seems pretty awesome too.
except that ms has just signed a huge deal here in Portugal to train a lot of people in office. Nothing wrong with that, other than a fact that XP is one minimum wage and Office is two. Me, i use OO.o, but i'm still studying (shamefully). But can i expect anyone i know to buy them? (apart from the fact that XP comes with the PC) Hell, no. People are to worried trying to pay their houses or car to care about that. (Or wasting an inordinate amount of money in the European Lottery, though i have no clue of the actual name in english).
and i proved a point that you really don't care when people ask what your opinion is, since you insulted me and assumed i implied something i didn't. kudos! for both missing to make your point by continuing the standard of slashdot articles and assuring your reader that the editors are the weak link.
true, but the one you promised to discuss this week was moderation, as far as I can remember. still, good of you to post something like that. i believe it's helping.
it's worse. for some it only became playable after a user created a patch. And by playable I also mean at more than 3 frames per second. then they release the 1.52 patch, which should supposedly do the same thing, yet it's still slower and still has problems for a few people.
could've been a troll, but it isn't. i can see that it wouldn't benefit them if their business model is to sell the browser. which isn't actually true for desktop computers.
but free software fanatics couldn't care less, they have a great free browser (well, more than one, really) already and don't care about other browsers. they just want their PC to be actually theirs.
while i kind of agree with you, "real" beauties aren't, after a point it's just a question of makeup and image editing. if you catch some unedited pictures on the internet you can see it. i think i even zapped through an Operah show saying the same thing.
"The sooner we quit believing that one party or another cares about the voters, the sooner we have a chance to preserve the dwindling amount of it we have left."
I never buy your newspaper anyway, i go to the coffee shop and read it while i'm there (or whatever they have there). still works, right? what you should be worried is that standard news media in Portugal is crap, which puts uninteresting crap that is unqualifiable as journalism for weeks on the front page/prime time. but hey, then they would have to cover how you actually make all your money, wouldn't they? screw you, want readers, make a news that people actually care about, stop complaining that people don't want to see the same drivel over and over.
i agree it's a good app, though it is counter intuitive for anyone used to word processors. i think you conviced me to have a bigger look at it, which is a good thing. i was actually thinking of uing latex, but haven't found a guide on how to change stuff yet (ie, ok, i can separate content, but how do i change styles, spacing, indexes, what are all these other modules, and so on and so forth.) shame, because it's very powerfull. oh, anyway, scribus. yes, i'll use it again, i just used it once to make a very simple poster and some things didn't work as expected
ah, well, you see, there's this requirement to print pages like they're in a book, ie, 4 pages per sheet with two groups of consecutive pages. i read this from an enthusiast who was publishing a magazine using Scribus a while ago. i do wonder if it is corrected at this point, and i'd be very glad if it is.
so? neither are the presidency and the ministries (sp?), but there's always at least one corrupt bastard somewhere along the line. the question is whether they're found and dealt with, and (un)fortunatly compared to the EU and the US, they seem to handle the job quite a lot better.
the ethicalness of the issue has nothing to do with that. it involves the ethicness of starving public domain and the issues of the DMCA and DRM. not that i'm going into an argument about this, but it isn't about freeloading.

and i was considering buying her books!
well, to bad for her.

that is one of the best things i've ever read about an RPG. thanks for the insight

i don't think he should have, but in any case slashdot has actual funds to stand up to bullying.

The Light of Other Days.
recommend.

And the point would be...
shut up. let them blow their money. how do you think the price comes down?

Game of the fucking year, indeed.

there, i corrected it for you. just a minor typo.
