...for some of Creative Labs's crappy interfaces. I hope he chokes on a "Flash For Dummies" manual. I can see sooooo many errors in usability on his web page it makes me laugh. For the newbee not versed in UI usability, here's one for ya... do you really want a slider that has values 10,20,30,40,50, where the diffeence between the values is a few pixels? how the hell does the user easily adjust to 38? And any reposne of "But they don't need to" is wrong, and although I love vi too, you need to read up on User Interface ***USABILITY*** best practices. Start a book club maybe, and make this guy a member.
Say that to the 50+ men who got together and decided to become indipendant of the brits. Was it "wrong" to say "Good Bye" to the king? Sure. Was it wrong to pick up arms against the king? Sure. But see how "wrong" it was every July 4th, buddy.

Very thoughtfull post, but when you say "Linux can no longer live of the legacy of its stability." I must disagree. That's the NUMBER ONE REASON why I run it for all my important stuff. Uptime, baby. If WinXP could stay up for a few months without swiss-cheese hole security, I'd run it. Stbility is king, and that is why Linux has entered the enterprise first, not the desktop. Enterprise wants stability, and Linux blows away Win2KSP2 in this regard (and many others as well). Just my 2 cents.
So now there are two ways to make money on the web.
1) Porn (yeah, not pr0n, I actually typed "it".)
2) Classified.
Put the two together and you have a cash cow. Idiotic sarcasim aside (which is hard for me to do) has this been done? Do any legal brothels (Nevada?) have web pages that take some form of e-commerce? What mixes are there of pr0n and classifieds... I bet they all make money.
Does anyone know if a G4 PowerBook can run Linux? And ideally, VMWare on top of it? If so, it would mean a GOOD piece of portable hardware (G4) with a GOOD operating system (Linux) and VMWare to take care of the little bits of Windoze I NEED to run Windoze only software to serve my clients... but I want to get far away from Windoze as pos.
Please don't let me know, "Powerbuks suck, dude." I just want to know if Linux can run on a Powerbook (and by run I mean CDRW/DVD/USB ports, etc). Thanks!

The DAY it works with Citibank online, I'll Switch(TM, Apple Corp.) But I can't send the moz team the URL that doesn't work, cause it's only AFTER I login and go to the main balance screen.
I e-mailed and got a reply from Citibank developent manager (after TONS of requests to get an e-mail from an actualy programmer there). To paraphrase citibank, "We only check out stuff in Explorer and Netscape. We don't test any other browers."
Sad... I have thought about moving my money to a more Unix friendsly bank, but citibank online is just too good in current IE needing form for me to Switch(TM, Apple Corp.)

GO TEAM GO! That browser gets better and better. Wish I was smart enough to contribute, the product is oh so sweet! It was what helped me Switch(TM, Apple Corp.) to Linux years ago... all I wanted was a good brower and it was the one I likes (sure, Konq is good too, DOWN BOY!)

Go to java.sun.com and stay there. No reason you can't make six figures learning that stuff. I know... I've done it... and nothing special ever fell in my lap. I just grabbed a hold of those API's and I could knock out an app and a usable, well designed GUI in no-time. Perfect? No. Free and easy and compelte? Yep. I wish I had 1.4 when I started, it's tops in my book (which is NOT on any best seller lists... although since we're still speaking metaphorically, if I did have a book, it'd be p0rn).
